About the role

As the  Director, Analytics - Cards & Lending, you will lead a high-performing team of sr. managers and analysts responsible for driving revenue growth and customer engagement across Self’s credit building, credit card, secured card and loan products.  Primary focus areas will include analysis of product performance, customer retention, optimizing revenue, and minimizing dormancy. You will be a hands-on leader with a passion for data-driven decision making and a proven ability to translate complex analyses into actionable strategies.

This role will report to the VP of Analytics.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the Way in Analytics: Define the analytical vision for understanding and increasing customer retention, revenue, usage, and pricing across our product portfolio.
  • Drive Product Performance: Develop and implement data-driven strategies to increase product usage (transactions, feature usage, balance outstanding), optimize payment behavior, and improve overall portfolio health.
  • Leverage Prior Fintech Experience: Leverage your prior experience with credit cards, lending, and other financial products to unlock increased value for Self’s customer base. 
  • Champion Customer Retention: Analyze customer behavior, identify churn drivers, and design targeted retention and reactivation campaigns to maximize customer lifetime value.
  • Unlock Revenue Growth: Strategize and size growth initiatives and develop forecasts to drive the right revenue growth decisions.
  • Be a Data-Driven Advocate: Present compelling data stories to partners and executive leadership to influence business strategy and secure buy-in for impactful initiatives.
  • Foster a Culture of Innovation: Challenge conventional thinking and encourage your team to explore new analytical approaches to solve complex business problems.
  • Collaborate for Success: Partner closely with Product, Marketing, and Risk teams to translate data insights into actionable strategies that drive business outcomes.
  • Build a High-Performing Team: Mentor and develop a team of talented analysts, providing guidance and opportunities for growth.

What we expect

  • 8+ years of Analytics experience
  • 6+ years experience with A/B testing and statistical analysis
  • 6+ years of experience developing business reports using a tool such as Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, or similar
  • Prior experience with Credit Card, Lending, Financial Service, or Risk Analytics
  • Strong expertise in data manipulation and analysis using SQL, Python, R, or similar.
  • Basic working knowledge of data warehousing, data modeling, and machine learning
  • Ability to build forecasts and P&Ls
  • Strong ability to communicate and link advanced analytical findings to practical business use-cases. 
  • Experience working in an Agile development team and using source code management systems such as Git
  • Experience with propensity modeling, lead scoring, cluster analysis, recommendation engines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • A self-starter mindset, with a strong sense of ownership, and the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment

Base salary range: $204,000 - $227,000 annually.  Individual pay is based on factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, and other job-related reasons.
