About the role
We're looking for a Senior People Operations Manager to help scale and streamline the systems, processes, and practices to support our growing team. You will report to the Head of People and play a critical role in shaping how People Ops shows up at Semgrep. From process design to employee experience, you'll touch every corner of our people infrastructure, both building and improving processes across compensation, benefits, compliance, onboarding, performance management, and engagement. You'll be a strategic business partner and a trusted resource to employees while ensuring our people programs scale with the business.
You'll have the unique opportunity to build the analytics infrastructure and scalable processes that will power our next phase of growth. While we have solid foundations in place, this role is perfect for someone who gets energized by taking good systems and making them great – establishing the data-driven capabilities and operational excellence that will set us apart.
You'll be instrumental in helping us scale domestically and internationally and collaborate closely with Recruiting, Finance, Payroll, Operations, and Tech Ops. We're looking for someone who loves data and gets excited about leveraging analytics to drive people decisions, and is curious about AI and how to leverage it to enhance the human experience at work.
Our expectation is that this role will be based in our San Francisco office, but for the right candidate, we're willing to be flexible.
What you’ll do
- Build and optimize scalable People Operations systems including (but not limited to) onboarding/offboarding, total rewards, compliance management, and performance review processes
- Establish robust people analytics infrastructure with dashboards, metrics tracking, and insights that drive strategic people decisions
- Oversee total rewards and compensation strategy to ensure we remain competitive in the market, including developing pay bands, managing equity programs, conducting compensation reviews, and optimizing our benefits package
- Transform data collection into actionable insights by building analytics capabilities and implementing policies and programs that preserve culture while supporting rapid growth
- Serve as a strategic partner to leadership on employment law compliance, both domestically and internationally
- Act as trusted resource for employees and managers on policies and procedures while building efficient workflows that eliminate bottlenecks
You are ideal for this role if you have
- 7+ years of People Operations experience building and scaling people functions in fast-growing, tech organizations, with proven experience creating analytics infrastructure from the ground up
- Strong analytical skills and experience building HRIS platforms (we use Rippling), performance management tools (we use CultureAmp), and establishing data-driven decision making capabilities
- Player/coach mentality – comfortable with hands-on tactical work while providing strategic guidance, able to think at a high level but willing to roll up your sleeves and dive into the details
- Expertise in compliance and employment law with experience managing global teams and immigration processes
- Exceptional judgment and communication skills for balancing compliance with people-first culture, especially when implementing new systems and processes
Compensation
Salary Range: $130,000 - $190,000
Our compensation package includes equity and benefits in addition to salary.
Please note that the range listed is for someone based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
What we offer
Our goal is to competitively and fairly compensate every Semgrep employee with a system that equally rewards those who are vocal and those who are less comfortable making demands during the final steps of the hiring process. To that end, we generate internal compensation bands that are used when discussing and negotiating salaries. We update these based on market data to make sure they’re above the average for comparable roles.
We also invest in our employees’ well-being and long term success with comprehensive health plans, generous vacation time, 401k, learning stipends, and more. Our benefits are for everyone, so that you’re taken care of, and we work with individuals to make sure they have what they need, whether that’s quiet work space, adjusted hours, or something else.
Who we are
We have people from France and the Philippines, physics and philosophy, formal methods research and full fledged corporations. We’re new parents and new grads, aspiring authors and aspiring Americans, dog lovers and dogfooders. We get together often to bike, bake, and meet up in parks. In our interactions, we believe respect and honesty go hand in hand, and prioritize both.
Semgrep is an equal-opportunity employer seeking a diverse range of backgrounds. We value who you are — including your cultural heritage, your socioeconomic status, your age, your race, your gender, your sexual orientation, your disabilities. We value what’s vitally important to you — your family, your religion, your politics. We value what you love in this world — your music, your weekend pursuits. We believe in welcoming varied professional backgrounds, educations, and interests. If you’re exceptional in your role, believe in Semgrep’s mission, and treat Semgrep’s values as your own, you belong here.
