POSITION OVERVIEW 

Sensei is a dynamic, pioneering organization at the intersection of science, wellness, hospitality and technology. Our mission is to guide the world to greater wellbeing, and we do so by empowering individuals with evidence-based tools and knowledge to optimize their well-being via our line of luxury wellness retreats and other future offerings and platforms. 

 

The VP of Wellness Science will be the bridge between science-based insights and transformative wellness experiences. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: 

· Lead the company’s long-term scientific strategies and uphold the evidence-based framework of Sensei offerings 

· Ensure the scientific validity of research, lead experimental development of new services, and ensure wellness services are rooted in evidence and based on preventive health and integrative medicine principles 

· Translate complex scientific insights into accessible, actionable strategies 

· Develop concept proposals in the scope of prognostic, preventive and lifestyle medicine and participate in the business analysis of those concepts. 

· Identify and research emerging wellness trends and conceptualize innovative services, programs, and experiences to keep Sensei at the forefront of the wellness industry. 

· Work closely with our Wellness Operations team to ensure that scientific insights are seamlessly integrated into guest experiences and daily operations. 

· Collaborate across all departments (Wellness Operations, Brand & Marketing, People Operations, etc.) to foster an innovation-driven culture that promotes wellbeing. 

· Define and operationalize areas related to healthcare regulations and/or scientific standards, including terms of service; protected health information (PHI); service standards; scope of practice; training guidelines; and other service components for wellness disciplines. 

· Ensure the company’s compliance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, and standards pertinent to health. 

· Use data analytics and emerging wellness trends and feedback loops to conceptualize innovative services and continuously refine and improve our offerings 

· Lead Sensei’s Innovation & Improvement process guided by market research, scientific research, and financial viability 

· Translate complex scientific concepts into engaging, accessible insights, educational materials and training for both external audiences and internal team members (live, virtual, or LMS presentations) to enhance service delivery 

· Develop scientific narratives, white papers, case studies, presentations, industry articles, and/or thought leadership materials to communicate Sensei’s evidence-led and innovative approach to wellness 

· Partner with the Brand/Marketing team to insert scientific credibility and innovative trends into applicable wellness science media pitches and media Q&A’s 

· Act as a spokesperson for key PR interviews related to Sensei’s wellness philosophy as well as time sensitive PR fact checks, supporting communications efforts of the Brand/Marketing team 

· Represent Sensei at conferences, panels, and industry events as a wellness and science expert 

· Network with industry leaders and wellness related companies to secure mutually beneficial relationships for Sensei 

· Collaborate closely with Sensei’s co-founder, Dr. David Agus, to ensure Sensei wellness offerings are aligned with his thought leadership 

· Leadership – Maintain a positive, upbeat role, promote and exemplify Company values and represents departmental objectives and interests to internal and external customers 

· Customer Service – Follow up on complaints, questions, and concerns; respond to internal/external customer needs in a friendly, timely and efficient manner 

· Teamwork - Develop and promote teamwork and cooperation among co-workers 

· Safety – Comply with established safe work practices and attend to all safety-related training provided or made available by the Company 

· Other duties as assigned 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience 

· M.D. and/or PhD with a strong foundation in general medicine and experience in preventive health or integrative medicine 

· 10+ years of progressive experience in wellness research, medical practice, and leadership roles 

· 5+ years of experience in business or operational strategy 

· Proven ability to translate medical and research insights into actionable wellness strategies that align with business objectives 

· Ability to translate medical jargon into relatable, inspiring content for our teams and guests 

Required Technical / Other Skills and Abilities 

· Excellent oral and written communication skills 

· A proactive, get-things-done attitude with a love for turning ideas into reality 

· Strong Business Acumen 

· Strong Organizational Savvy 

· Strong Collaboration skills 

· Adept in the art of scientific storytelling 

· Significant business acumen 

· Clinical and Research Background: Extensive experience in medical or clinical research, ideally focused on wellness, preventive medicine, or integrative health 

· Data and Analytics Proficiency: Ability to analyze health outcomes, oversee clinical trials, and utilize digital health technologies to drive wellness initiatives. 

· Scientific Methodologies: Deep understanding of scientific methodologies and evidence-based practices. 

· Fluency across a breadth of technical areas, including, but not limited to exercise physiology; biomechanics; nutrition; molecular biology; psychology; behavior change 

models and data science 

Required Licenses/Certifications 

· MD and/or PhD
