About the Role:
We are seeking a talented and motivated Marketing Communications Analyst Intern who is best in class with a high IQ plus a high EQ. This role presents an exciting opportunity to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment within a rapidly growing team, with abundant prospects for career advancement.
As a Marketing Communications Analyst Intern at Sezzle, you will play a pivotal role in driving measurable performance within cross-channel marketing efforts. This role is tailored for a data-savvy, results-oriented candidate seeking exposure to omni-channel campaign execution, content strategy, and performance analytics. You will be actively involved in the end-to-end lifecycle of campaigns across email, SMS, app messaging, and push notifications—evaluating their efficacy through KPIs such as engagement rates, CTR, conversion rates, segmentation accuracy, and A/B test results.
What You'll Do:
Campaign Execution and Operations
- Support the deployment of integrated campaigns using data analytics across CRM tools (e.g., Braze) to identify what’s working well, what isn’t and why.
- You will also support the overall MarComm team when necessary ensuring campaign accuracy through QA protocols, legal/compliance approval, and stakeholder alignment.
- You will follow protocols to maintain analytics documentation and ensure the understanding of the analytics by key stakeholders using control group testing, standardization and normalization techniques, and enabling visual data through the company’s redash portal, and other systems as necessary.
Performance Analysis and Reporting
- Monitor and report on campaign performance using dashboards and structured reporting templates. Key metrics include:
- Open/Click-through/Conversion Rates
- Segment performance variance
- Retention and re-engagement KPIs
- Initiate and support data pulls to inform iterative strategy shifts and micro-segmentation efforts.
Content Optimization and Personalization
- Collaborate on the creation of tailored content aligned with behavioral and demographic segmentation, with a focus on increasing message relevance and ROI.
- Partner with internal teams to ideate, develop, and analyze content variants for performance optimization (copy A/B tests, CTAs, cadence tests).
Strategic Enablement
- Provide insight-driven recommendations based on historical performance data and benchmark trends.
- Track and flag potential risks in project workflows, recommending preventive measures and backup plans to mitigate delays or compliance gaps.
What We Look For:
- Background in marketing, analytics, communications, or related fields.
- Previous internships or academic projects involving campaign management, marketing analytics, or content creation preferred.
- Proficiency in data-driven marketing practices with the ability to synthesize insights from campaign performance reports.
- Foundational experience in tools such as redash (or similar business intelligence tools), Excel/Google Sheets, Braze, and Figma; familiarity with CRM segmentation logic and data fields is a plus.
- Competence in short-form copywriting and campaign asset QA.
- Comfort working in agile, matrixed teams with multiple inputs and quick turnarounds.
About You:
- You have relentlessly high standards - many people may think your standards are unreasonably high. You are continually raising the bar and driving those around you to deliver great results. You make sure that defects do not get sent down the line and that problems are fixed so they stay fixed.
- You’re not bound by convention - your success—and much of the fun—lies in developing new ways to do things
- You need action - speed matters in business. Many decisions and actions are reversible and do not need extensive study. We value calculated risk-taking.
- You earn trust - you listen attentively, speak candidly, and treat others respectfully.
- You have backbone; disagree, then commit - you can respectfully challenge decisions when you disagree, even when doing so is uncomfortable or exhausting. You have conviction and are tenacious. You do not compromise for the sake of social cohesion. Once a decision is determined, you commit wholly.
- You deliver results - you focus on the key inputs and deliver them with the right quality and in a timely fashion. Despite setbacks, you rise to the occasion and never settle.
- Analytical Thinker: You excel at using logic, data, and patterns to inform decisions and strategies.
- Self-Starter: Comfortable taking initiative in ambiguous or evolving environments.
- Collaborative Communicator: Able to distill complex updates for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Detail-Oriented Executor: Your accuracy ensures campaign quality and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Customer-Centric Innovator: You’re passionate about crafting messages that matter to specific audiences and segments.
