As we continue to grow, we are excited to add a Senior Engineering Manager, NPD, to our global team.  

Summary  

 We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager - NPD to help us build a new generation of innovative products in our Home Environment category. We thrive on designing great products that delight our customers. Working as part of our Needham (Boston) office team, you will bring technical substance and inspiration to our creative efforts to deliver credible solutions to the market.  

 Role Functions:  

  • Takes overall ownership of designs through conception, CAD execution, prototyping verification, and into mass production, whilst consistently working at pace. 
  • Leads a team to carry out design studies (independently and in teams) to solve technical or consumer issues found in product development.  
  • Successfully develops a team of A-players, helping them to reach their full potential and career aspirations. 
  • Continuously evaluates and improves designs for cost efficiency, manufacturing improvements, increased quality and value to consumers.  
  • Applies sound engineering and product design standards/practices to deliver solutions.  
  • Applies understanding & experience of high-volume manufacturing processes and materials. 
  • Collaborates and communicates seamlessly with our UK and China-based product development teams and executive leadership team to ensure that great ideas make it through to production.  

 

Attributes:   

  • Ability to break down complex problems into first principles, generate a plan/approach to resolve the problems, and then execute using a fail-fast and “progress over perfection” mindset. 
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering/physics fundamentals, including fluid mechanics and mechanical design. 
  • Solid analytical skills, strong attention to detail, and relentless drive to identify potential problems and take responsibility for their resolution. 
  • Ability to quickly, effectively, and concisely communicate with both technical and non-technical colleagues verbally and in writing. 
  • Adept at multitasking and responding quickly to shifting priorities without losing sight of longer-term milestones and goals. 
  • Strong ability to articulate and advocate for your ideas, and willingness to challenge others and be challenged yourself on the merits of ideas. 

 

Qualifications:   

  • BS, MS or BA in Engineering (Mechanical or similar discipline)   
  • 8+ years of related experience in product development or a related field, ideally in a fast-paced, startup-type environment. 
  • Proven record of delivering robust, elegant, and innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges, leading projects, and mentoring other engineers.   
  • Development and product execution experience within the consumer product field. 
  • Experience with electronics, test equipment, and components common in small appliances (sensors, motors, heaters, PCBAs, etc.)   
  • Excellent CAD experience. 
  • Due to the hands-on nature of the role working with product and prototypes, this is an in-person role at our Needham, MA office.
