R&D Test Engineer
Build the tests that decide what millions of people bring into their homes
Every product we ship has survived a gauntlet you designed. As an R&D Test Engineer, you'll build the fixtures, run the procedures, and make the calls that separate a product ready for customers from one that needs another pass. This isn't a support role to engineering — it's where engineering decisions get proven or sent back to the drawing board.
You'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with R&D and product teams on real consumer hardware, with the autonomy to design your own test approach and the responsibility that comes with it.
What You'll Own
Fixture and lab equipment design — you'll build the tools that don't exist yet, not just run the ones that do.
Test procedure development and execution, with documentation sharp enough that anyone on the team can trust and act on your results.
Failure analysis — partnering directly with R&D and product engineers to dig into data, troubleshoot root causes, and drive fixes, not just flag problems.
Lab operations — calibration, supplies, and a running list of what could work better.
Knowledge-sharing — training teammates on Floorcare Lab procedures and quality standards, raising the bar for the whole team.
What You Bring
A B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
3+ years in testing or validation within R&D or product development; consumer goods experience is a strong plus.
Hands-on fluency with thermal, electrical, and mechanical test equipment — you're comfortable in a lab, not just at a desk.
Data analysis chops, with MATLAB or LabVIEW experience preferred.
A genuine eye for failure modes and design flaws, paired with the instinct to chase them down rather than just report them.
Nice to Have
Experience with environmental chambers, vibration testers, or electrical test equipment.
Familiarity with UL, CE, or ISO standards.
Six Sigma or ASQ certification.
Why This Role
You'll see your work ship. The fixtures you build and the calls you make show up in products used in homes everywhere — this is hands-on, high-visibility engineering with real ownership from day one.
