Energy Practice Lead - Casualty
About Shepherd
Our mission is to create the first comprehensive platform that combines top-tier insurance offerings with world-class software so commercial businesses can manage risk and prevent losses. We started with the $10T commercial construction industry and are expanding to new verticals in 2025.
Our thesis is that technology can solve the sustainability challenges facing commercial insurance, and to accomplish this we’re building a platform that incentivizes our clients to adopt the best tools when they buy our coverage. Across construction and other commercial markets, technology is available but fundamentally underutilized, despite the potential for improving loss outcomes and stopping this crisis.
To date, Shepherd has raised $20M+ from top tier VCs including Y-Combinator, Susa Ventures, Spark Capital, Costanoa Ventures, Era Ventures, Greenlight RE and Intact Ventures..
Shepherd's Approach
Shepherd is a tech-enabled MGU writing P&C insurance for the commercial high-hazard industries. Our mission is to incentivize safe and sustainable work environments through innovative insurance products.
Shepherd launched its first Casualty products for commercial construction in March 2022. We offer both Excess and Primary coverage, combining speed, data-driven insights from technology partnerships, and proprietary software to enhance our insurance solutions.
This is an incredible opportunity to join Shepherd to help build out and lead a new underwriting vertical. In 2025 Shepherd will be expanding outside of construction, supporting adjacent industry segments and complimenting our core construction portfolio. The Technical Lead for Manufacturing will work closely with Shepherd’s Head of Casualty to develop and implement the initial underwriting guidance and strategy for this expansion.
