Shift5 is hiring a full-time Engineering Operations Manager to join our growing team. We’re seeking an engineering expert with proven experience optimizing and building the infrastructure of an engineering department. Our team and customer base are quickly growing and we’re scaling our team and processes smartly to deliver flawless products to our customers. 

In this position, you’ll play a critical role in building and shaping the infrastructure necessary to ensure a successful engineering department - tool identification and implementation, process development, project tracking - that ultimately results in the delivery of a flawless product to our customers. You’ll operate in a team based environment and cross-functionally with our engineering, field, sales and marketing teams to ensure we’re able to deliver efficiently and on-time. This role resides in our Product Engineering team and reports directly to our Vice President of Engineering.

In this role you will be expected to:

  • Work across engineering teams (hardware, software, devops) to track the progress of the different projects against defined milestones.
  • Surface delays and staffing issues, dive deep to the root of the problems.
  • Maintain, improve, and optimize engineering processes.
  • Document and train engineering staff on new/improved processes, new methodologies, and/or new technologies we adopt.
  • Represent engineering in various projects,working groups or other team meetings as needed.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration by driving alignment of technical contributors, stakeholders, and other interested parties to ensure clear requirements, timelines, and dependencies.

We're looking for someone who is/has:

  • 3+ years of experience in an enterprise technology environment as Engineering Project Manager or Engineering Operations Manager
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills and experience establishing guidelines in these areas for others
  • Familiarity with Engineering processes, procedures, and best practices. Demonstrated experience with creating and refining development practices, documentation, and tracking methodologies to ensure clarity, visibility, and traceability throughout the Engineering Org.
  • Demonstrated expertise with Atlassian Suite (Jira and Confluence)
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and a natural predisposition toward data-driven decision making, additionally able to make reasoned decisions in situations of uncertainty or imperfect data
  • Strong sense of personal accountability regarding decision-making and supervising department teams
  • Experience working in a high-level collaborative environment and promoting a teamwork mentality
  • Confidence in communicating proactively with internal and external  stakeholders
  • Ability to rapidly adapt and respond to changes in environment and priorities
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to manage numerous complex projects simultaneously
  • US Citizen
  • Active (or ability to hold/obtain) a US Government Top Secret security clearance
