Role Description:

The Lead Solutions Engineer will join ShipBob’s growing Revenue team responsible for understanding the unique strategic needs of each of our strategic prospect and delivering value to help facilitate their growth and success. The Lead SE will partner with ShipBob’s Sales, Implementation and Success leadership teams to align the merchant's key business objectives and technical requirements with a compelling technical solution. Acting as a trusted advisor, the Lead SE will demonstrate our platform’s full potential, tailored to each merchant’s unique needs and personalized to their industry segment.  

What you'll do:

  • Architect Merchant Success: Collaborate with our most strategic and complex merchants to deeply understand their business goals and craft tailored solutions that align with both strategic objectives and technical requirements. 
  • Oversee Cross-Functional Execution: Advocate for and run the next level innovative solutions, through cross-functional collaboration, that result in improved sales conversion and deal acceleration.  
  • Deliver Sales Excellence: Support key sales stages—including demos, warehouse tours, RFPs, vendor assessments, and technical evaluations—by translating complex requirements into actionable insights. 
  • Own Technical Discovery: Immerse yourself in merchants’ technical environments to uncover opportunities, anticipate challenges, and guide scalable solution design. 
  • Drive Strategic Rollouts: Develop and communicate a clear technical vision and implementation roadmap that ensures timely, on-budget product launches with measurable impact. 
  • Stay Ahead of the Curve: Maintain deep expertise in industry trends, ShipBob’s evolving service offerings, and competitive differentiators to position value effectively. 
  • Champion Product Innovation: Stay closely aligned with the product roadmap, evangelize new features with customers, and serve as a feedback conduit to inform product strategy. 
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as necessary. 

What you’ll bring to the table: 

  • Merchant-Facing Technical Expertise: 10+ years of hands-on experience, ideally in sales engineering, supporting merchants in SaaS and e-commerce environments, blending technical acumen with customer-centric problem solving.  
  • Strategic Solutioning Expertise: Demonstrated ability to translate complex business challenges into scalable, technical solutions that drive merchant growth and operational efficiency. 
  • Technical Fluency with Business Impact: Comfortable navigating APIs, SQL, and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Ruby), while articulating how technical decisions align with business outcomes. 
  • Operational Excellence: Demonstrated knowledge in Supply Chain, Fulfillment, and Warehouse Management Systems.  
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Demonstrated success in influencing stakeholders across Sales, Product, Operations, Compliance, and Implementation to deliver seamless enterprise merchant experiences.  
  • Customer Empathy & Communication Mastery: Exceptional interpersonal and storytelling skills to build trust with merchants, simplify technical concepts, and drive alignment across diverse audiences. 
  • Process Optimization Mindset: Experience building repeatable frameworks, documentation, and best practices that scale Sales Engineering operations and improve team efficiency.

ShipBob believes in transparency while providing a competitive total compensation package with a pay for performance approach. We are targeting a base salary of $152,400 for this role. The full base pay range for this position in our compensation architecture is $114,300 - $190,500. In addition to base salary, this role includes the opportunity to be eligible for participation in the Company's discretionary bonus plan based on Company's plans and in accordance with Company’s policies.
