THE OPPORTUNITY
Silvus is seeking a full-time Senior Radio Compliance Engineer reporting to the Director of RF Engineering on the RF Engineering team. The successful individual in this role will actively participate in all aspects of the radio compliance process for Silvus’ StreamCaster MANET product line. The position is located at Silvus headquarters in the heart of vibrant West Los Angeles, CA and is on a hybrid schedule, a minimum of 3 days onsite per week is expected. On-site days are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
The following is a list of at least some of the current essential job functions of the position. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities at any time at its discretion.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Experience in interpreting and applying regulatory radio standards including NTIA.
- MIL-STD-461G, FCC CFR 47 Part 15, ETSI standards (EN 300 328, EN 302 064, etc.), and others.
- Experience with Radiated Spurious Emissions and/or radiated EMC testing.
- Test our products to assess compliance with different requirements to the extent possible during both new designs as well as periodic check of existing products.
- Interact with the test house and drive the entire certification process, (getting quotes, preparing DUTs, attending the testing at test house as necessary).
- Obtain and prepare the required documentation for formal certifications.
- Answering compliance related support questions.
- Understand proper use and handling of sensitive RF connectors and cables.
- Travel Requirements - Rare local travel, as required by Silvus (i.e. Irvine, San Diego).
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of multi-GHz RF hardware development experience.
- Hands-on experience with solving EMI, harmonics, spurious, and stability issues.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience using RF test equipment such as Power Meters, Spectrum Analyzers, and Signal Generators.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to provide clear summary of test status and any issues to broader team.
- Strong troubleshooting skills.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Master of Science in Electrical Engineering.
- Proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Able to work independently and work on several projects concurrently.
- Detail oriented and have a firm commitment to quality.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Lift up to 20 lbs. of equipment for setup of demos and testing.
- Occasional exposure to heat, cold, and allergens while performing tests and/or demonstrations in the field.
- Walking/moving in the labs.
COMPENSATION
The pay range is NOT a guarantee. It is based on market research and peer data, and will vary depending on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
CA Pay Range
$150,000 - $180,000 USD
