THE OPPORTUNITY

The Software Engineer I – SQA position reports to the Senior Test Engineer within the Software Engineering team.  The successful individual in this role will drive customer success by guaranteeing the quality and robustness of Silvus’ StreamCaster software.

This position is 100% onsite, Monday through Friday, at Silvus Technologies’ HQ in the heart of vibrant West LA.

The following is a list of at least some of the current essential job functions of the position. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities at any time at its discretion.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implement test plans evaluating reliability and performance across various interfaces and features.
  • Automate tests using various technologies like OpenCV, Selenium, and more.
  • Partner with development teams to validate test designs.
  • Perform and contribute to the exploration of tests against defect reports, new features, and bug fixes.
  • Triage defect reports and collaborate with engineers on their resolution.
  • Collaborate with various teams on high priority debugging efforts.
  • Contribute to the design, implementation, and maintenance of SQA test stations.
  • Adhere and contribute to upholding software usability and quality standards.
  • Perform other related duties of which the above are representative

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or other related technical fields.
  • Strong foundational skills in software development with Python, C/C++, or related languages.
  • Experience developing in one or more of Windows, Linux, MacOS, Android, or Bare metal environments.
  • Demonstrated understanding of software testing practices (unit, integration, system testing) gained through academic projects, internships, or personal work.
  • Fundamental understanding of computer networking concepts.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Aptitude for problem-solving and troubleshooting technical challenges.
  • NOTE - Must be a U.S. Citizen due to clients under U.S. government contracts.
  • Employment is contingent upon the successful clearance of a background check.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with test and analysis tools like Selenium, Pytest, Wireshark, and TCPDump.
  • Experience with automation and reporting tools like Jenkins or ReportPortal.
  • Experience with containerization and deployment tools like Docker or Nginx.
  • Familiarity with web browser tools for inspecting network requests or aiding Selenium development.
  • Familiarity with mesh networking.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) practices.
  • Experience with electrical or RF instrumentation and design.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Rare local travel, as required by Silvus.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Indoor air-conditioned facility.
  • Occasional exposure to heat, cold, and allergens while performing tests and/or demonstrations in the field.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to do the following:
    • Lift equipment, up to 50lbs., for setup of demos and testing.
    • Walking/Moving in the lab.

COMPENSATION

The pay range is NOT a guarantee. It is based on market research and peer data, and will vary depending on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.

CA Pay Range

$38.46 - $52.88 USD
