POSITION SUMMARY
Silvus is seeking an Intern Applications & Sales Engineer within the customer-facing Sales Engineering team to conduct a wide range of technical activities relating to applications/solutions engineering and customer and sales support. In this role, you will draft an Application Note for publication to our customers. The subject of this App Note will be Implementing Proper SD-WAN Failover and will involve testing several industry SD-WAN Failover Router technologies in conjunction with Silvus radios to determine best practices for deployment of these technologies. In addition to this project, the intern will be invited on various other assignments typical of the Sales Engineering team, such as field tests, support trips, training exercises, and more.
The internship position is full-time, on-site daily Monday through Friday. The location for this role is Silvus Technologies’ HQ in the heart of vibrant West LA.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and test SD-WAN Failover solutions to determine best practices for deployment of these technologies.
- Discern the trade-offs between several industry SD-WAN Failover Router technologies.
- Work closely with software engineering, and other engineering teams to perform software and hardware testing.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- In-progress bachelor's or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering, or other related technical fields.
- Comfortability in software support, scripting, Linux environment, C/C++, python.
- Exposure to software and hardware testing.
- Exposure to technical writing.
- Exposure to RF instruments such as signal generators and spectrum analyzers.
- Proficiency with PC office applications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with customers and the internal team.
- Travel Requirements: Rare Off-site Travel to attend events.
NOTE - Must be a U.S. Citizen due to clients under U.S. government contracts.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Exposure to wireless and radio communication systems, RF signal propagation principles, and digital communication technologies.
- Exposure to TCP/IP networking.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and effectively interact with cross-functional teams and customers.
- Excellent organizational skills and attentiveness to details
- Ability to multi-task and rapidly switch focus.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Indoor air-conditioned facility
- Some outdoor fieldwork.
- Ability to lift equipment up to 50 lbs. for setup of demos and testing.
- Walking/Moving in the lab.
COMPENSATION
The pay range is NOT a guarantee. It is based on market research and peer data, and will vary depending on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
CA Pay Range
$27 - $27 USD
