THE OPPORTUNITY
The Intern Software Engineer - SQA position reports to the Software Quality Assurance Manager on the Software Engineering team. The successful individual in this role will be actively involved in supporting and developing test automation projects for product software and performance defects.
This internship is full-time, on-site daily Monday through Friday. The location for this role is Silvus Technologies’ HQ in the heart of vibrant West LA.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As an SQA Software Engineer Intern, you will gain hands-on experience and contribute to the quality assurance of our products by:
- Implementing test plans evaluating reliability and performance across various interfaces and features.
- Automating tests using various technologies like OpenCV, Selenium, and more.
- Partnering with development teams to validate test designs.
- Performing and contributing to exploration against defect reports, new features, and bug fixes.
- Triaging defect reports and collaborating with engineers on their resolution.
- Collaborating with various teams on high priority debugging efforts.
- Contributing to the design, implementation, and maintenance of SQA test stations.
- Adhering and contributing to upholding software usability and quality standards.
- Performing other related duties of which the above are representative.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- In-progress bachelor's or master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or other related technical fields.
- Coursework or project experience that demonstrates foundational skills in software development with Python, C/C++, or related languages.
- Demonstrated understanding of software testing practices (unit, integration, system testing) gained through academic projects, internships, or personal work.
- Basic understanding of computer networking concepts.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Aptitude for problem-solving and troubleshooting technical challenges.
- NOTE - Must be a U.S. Citizen due to clients under U.S. government contracts.
- Employment is contingent upon the successful clearance of a background check.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Experience developing for one or more of Windows, Linux, MacOS, Android, or Bare metal environments.
- Familiarity with test and analysis tools like Selenium, Pytest, Wireshark, and TCPDump.
- Familiarity with automation and reporting tools like Jenkins or ReportPortal.
- Familiarity with containerization and deployment tools like Docker or Nginx.
- Familiarity with web browser development tools for inspecting network requests or aiding with Selenium test development.
- Familiarity with mesh networking.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) practices.
- Familiarity with electrical or RF instrumentation and design.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Indoor air-conditioned facility.
- Lift equipment, up to 50lbs., for set-up of demonstrations and testing.
- Walking/Moving in the lab.
COMPENSATION
The pay range is NOT a guarantee. It is based on market research and peer data, and will vary depending on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
CA Pay Range
$27 - $27 USD
