We’re a high-tech home security company that’s passionate about protecting the life you’ve built and our mission of keeping Every Home Secure. And we’ve created a culture here that cares just as deeply about the career you’re building. Ours is a no-ego culture of collaboration and innovation, where those seeking their next challenge can find significant opportunities and make a profound impact on the lives of all those we protect. Why are we hiring?

Well, we’re growing and thriving. We need smart, talented, and humble individuals who share our values to join us as we disrupt the home security space and relentlessly pursue our mission of keeping every home secure.

What You’ll Do

At SimpliSafe, our corporate IT Team does more than fix laptops—we empower every team member to do their best work. As part of the Information Technology and Global Supply (CIOGS) organization, led by our Chief Information and Global Supply Officer, we ensure that SimpliSafers feel supported, connected, and confident in their technology.

We’re looking for a Network Engineer II to join our IT Infrastructure Team in Richmond, Virginia. In this role, you’ll report to our IT Manager, Infrastructure, and have a strong relationship with our Senior IT Manager, User Solutions, who oversees our Richmond end-user support team:

  • Support and maintain SimpliSafe’s enterprise network infrastructure, ensuring secure, reliable connectivity across offices and remote users — critical to keeping our 24/7/365 Richmond operations up and running.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues while partnering with IT, InfoSec, and business teams to deliver scalable, resilient solutions.
  • Enhance and safeguard network performance by monitoring availability, documenting configurations, and applying best practices to maintain business continuity.

You’ll spend most of your time on-site at our two Richmond locations, where your presence will make a direct impact. We occasionally offer remote work flexibility when business demands allow, but being present in person is key to ensuring seamless support for our teams.

The standard schedule for this role is Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; however, alternative schedules may be available, including Sunday–Thursday (business hours), Sunday–Wednesday (longer days), Monday–Saturday (business hours), or Monday–Friday second shift (~12:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m.).

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Deploying, configuring, and supporting enterprise network technologies: Palo Alto firewalls, Cisco switches, Meraki wireless access points, Palo Alto Panorama SD-WAN, GlobalProtect VPN, and ZScaler.
  • Collaborating with Information Security and Infrastructure teams to implement firewall rules, segmentation, and secure networking policies.
  • Troubleshooting connectivity issues across LAN, WLAN, WAN, VPN, and cloud-connected environments.
  • Performing routine upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management of network hardware and software.
  • Supporting business continuity and disaster recovery testing through redundant network design and uptime planning.
  • Monitoring network performance, availability, and capacity, and addressing issues proactively to ensure uninterrupted 24/7 site operations.
  • Maintaining accurate technical documentation, topology diagrams, and runbooks.
  • Partnering cross-functionally to deliver new network solutions that enable scalability, security, and performance.

What You’ll Bring

  • Up to 4 years of hands-on experience in enterprise network engineering roles.
  • Demonstrated experience with Palo Alto firewalls, Cisco switches, Meraki wireless, Palo Alto Panorama SD-WAN, GlobalProtect VPN, and ZScaler.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, wireless, and VPN technologies.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Panorama, or equivalent).
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with proven ability to resolve performance and security issues.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts.
  • Ability to work primarily on-site in Richmond, VA, with some flexibility for remote work when business needs allow.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to partner effectively across IT, InfoSec, and business teams.
  • Will participate in an on-call rotation to support critical network incidents outside of standard hours.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Palo Alto PCNSE, Cisco CCNP, or equivalent professional certification.
  • Experience implementing Zero Trust architectures or secure web gateways (ZScaler or similar).
  • Exposure to cloud networking (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and hybrid network designs.
  • Familiarity with automation or scripting (Python, Ansible, Terraform) for network tasks.
  • Experience with enterprise monitoring, logging, and SIEM platforms.
  • Understanding of ITIL processes and best practices in change management.

What Values You’ll Share

  • Customer Obsessed - Building deep empathy for our customers, putting them at the core of our work, and developing strong, long-term relationships with them.

Form CC-305

Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
