Appian Software Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Appian Software Engineer. You will be responsible for gathering, analyzing, and defining requirements to determine the most effective software and web technologies to satisfy client needs. You'll develop, maintain, support, and enhance complex software systems based on documented requirements, providing specific input to system design, and adhering to formal design processes and guidelines. You'll design and develop user-friendly interfaces, maintain technical documentation, and ensure quality control of software. You will select development processes, recommend new technologies, and troubleshoot complex software problems. You'll also integrate new products with existing applications to improve system functionality and design.
This role resides in our Growth department and reports to our Program Manager. This position is on a customer site in the Annapolis Junction, MD location with a 10% travel requirement.

We simulate adversaries and malicious actors to report details and actionable findings on critical assets and infrastructures. Our program planners advise mission owners to bring rapid solutions to intelligence mission leaders. Core Responsibilities:
- Gathering, analyzing, and defining requirements to determine the most effective software and web technologies to satisfy client needs.
- Develop, maintain, support, and enhance complex software systems based on documented requirements, providing specific input to system design, and adhering to formal design processes and guidelines.
- Design and develop user-friendly interfaces, maintain technical documentation, and ensure quality control of software.
- Select development processes, recommend new technologies, and troubleshoot complex software problems.
- Integrate new products with existing applications to improve system functionality and design.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree and minimum 5 years of experience, or equivalent.
- Active Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain a Polygraph
- Ability to complete development work on the high-side Linux environment
- Security+ certification
- Java experience (any level of experience is acceptable)
- Python experience (any level of experience is acceptable)
- Mongo experience (any level of experience is acceptable)
- Postgres experience (any level of experience is acceptable)
- Appian Experience (Minimum of 2 years of experience designing, developing or supporting Appian or Appian-based applications)
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Skilled in communications with government customers on issues.
- Cloud experience
- Familiar with DIA engineering environment
- Ability to capture user issues and feedback
- Ability to create sustainable processes
- FIDBOS-X experience
- Skilled in Engineering efforts (Appian) of core processes for a federal government agency.
Additional Details
- Job Location: Annapolis Junction, MD
- Clearance Requirement: Active TS with ability to obtain a CI polygraph
- Travel: Estimated 10% or less.

At SIXGEN, we are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The anticipated salary range for this role is $100,000-$160,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. This range reflects our compensation philosophy, which takes into account various factors including the candidate's relevant experience, education, skills, LCATs rates and position level, and market competitiveness. In addition to base salary, employees may be eligible for other forms of compensation to include our growth incentive program, incentives and benefits. The final salary offer will be determined after a thorough review of the candidate's background and alignment with the role. Please note that this range is subject to change and should be considered as a guideline rather than a definitive figure.
