Integration / API / Data Engineer

This is a contingent position based upon contract win.

SkyePoint Decisions is seeking an Integration/API/Data Engineer to join our team supporting a federal customer. This position is contingent on contract win.

This person will design and implements APIs, interfaces, data exchanges, and integration services that connect customer systems and automation capabilities, enabling secure movement and use of data across development, security, workflow, and ATO processes. 

This is a remote position. 

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, document, and maintain RESTful APIs, services, interfaces, connectors, and integration components using customer-approved technologies. 
• Analyze source and target systems, data models, interface requirements, dependencies, and error-handling needs. 
• Implement secure data exchange, transformation, validation, orchestration, and event-driven integration patterns. 
• Develop reusable integration services that support evidence collection, assessment workflows, analytics, policy enforcement, and decision support. 
• Collaborate with security engineers to apply authentication, authorization, secrets management, encryption, logging, and secure-coding controls. 
• Collaborate with data/analytics engineers to define schemas, mappings, data quality checks, lineage, and operational data requirements. 
• Develop automated unit/integration tests, interface documentation, ADRs, runbooks, README content, and release notes. 

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field with 8+ years of experience. 
• Demonstrated software engineering experience developing APIs, system interfaces, data integrations, or reusable services in enterprise environments. 
• Experience with structured data formats, API security, automated testing, source control, CI/CD, and technical documentation. 
• Ability to troubleshoot complex cross-system integration and data-flow issues. 
• Ability to obtain a 6c Public Trust. At least an active Secret clearance is highly preferred.
• U.S. Citizenship is required.

• REST/JSON APIs and integration frameworks 
• Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, or comparable languages 
• AWS integration/data services 
• Event-driven or message-based architectures 
• SQL and data modeling 
• GitLab CI/CD 
• API testing and observability 

Compensation:

Salary Range: TBD

The SkyePoint Decisions salary range for this position is a general guideline only. It represents an estimated range for this position and is just one piece of our total compensation package. 

Salary at SkyePoint is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, work schedule, the candidate’s combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability, market data and business considerations.
