POSITION OVERVIEW
The Direct Procurement Specialist is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, contracting, and purchasing materials, equipment, services, and supplies from vendors to ensure a stable flow of goods and services. This role works in close collaboration with the manager and operational departments to ensure that SMA America's regional vendors perform as contractually agreed.
PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
* Execute Regional and Global Procurement strategy for the Americas region.
* Continuously drive savings, demand bundling, standardization, and support of make-or-buy decisions.
* Assist with market analysis using knowledge of products, markets, and suppliers, including scouting for innovations and new products.
* Serve as the main point of contact in support of assigned direct vendors.
* Produce vendor-specific analysis and KPI data and provide recommendations for improvement.
* Identify and evaluate risk related to lead time, capacity, and material prices, escalating to management when required.
* Execute RFx activities as required, including requests for proposal, information, and quote.
* Document and maintain all Direct Procurement processes for the Americas region.
* Clarify and document procurement relevant master data requirements for the Americas region direct vendors.
* Work closely with cross-functional teams to keep them updated on order status, changes, and delays.
* Issue, track, and manage purchase orders for products and services in direct support of business requirements.
* Execute and implement vendor contracts in collaboration with management and the contract manager, including NDAs, MFAs, MSAs, and terms and conditions.
* Other duties as may be required or assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor's degree or relevant and equivalent work experience in Procurement, Supply Chain, or Engineering required.
* 3 to 5 years of relevant direct procurement experience required.
* Proven supplier management and contract negotiation experience required.
* Experience working in a production environment with familiarity in production planning, delivery requirements, and forecasting.
* Working knowledge of all carrier modes and supply chain operations.
* Experience using an ERP system such as SAP or Oracle required.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel strongly preferred.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* APICS, CPIM, or Certified Supply Chain Professional certification preferred.
* Experience with inventory control and cycle counting is a plus.
* German or Spanish language skills a plus.
* Indirect Procurement experience may be considered for candidates with demonstrated growth into vendor relationship management.

* Base salary range of $80,000 to $85,000 annually, dependent on experience and qualifications.
