Head of Customer Marketing

We’re looking for a strategic and hands-on Head of Customer Marketing to join our Product Marketing organization and lead global customer and agency activations. In this high-impact role, you will be responsible for designing and executing programs that deepen engagement with our existing customers, accelerate adoption, and turn them into advocates through scalable initiatives like case studies, community programs, events, and co-marketing efforts with partners and agencies.

You’ll collaborate cross-functionally with Product Marketing, Customer Success, Sales, and Partnerships, building a customer marketing function that supports revenue growth, retention, and brand amplification across our most important markets.

As a Head of Customer Marketing at Smartly, you will…

  • Build and scale our Customer Marketing function within the Product Marketing team, aligning closely with GTM priorities and regional needs.

  • Develop strategies to drive customer and agency engagement, including lifecycle campaigns, communications, and enablement programs.

  • Lead customer advocacy efforts: source and produce case studies, testimonials, reference programs, and speaker engagements in partnership with CS and Sales.

  • Partner with Product Marketing to create targeted narratives and content that showcase customer success stories and product value.

  • Drive product adoption through newsletters, webinars, training programs, and more.

  • Scale agency adoption and co-marketing by launching strategic programs with partners, supporting certification and enablement, and equipping them to champion our solutions.

  • Design and manage feedback loops (e.g., surveys, advisory boards, interviews) to capture customer insights and improve marketing efforts.

  • Define KPIs and report regularly on program impact—including activation, engagement, and expansion outcomes.

We're definitely looking for you if you have… 

  • 7+ years of experience in B2B marketing, with 3+ years in customer marketing or customer-centric roles (ideally in SaaS, adtech, or martech).

  • Track record of building and scaling customer marketing programs from the ground up.

  • Strong experience in partner or agency marketing is a plus.

  • Deep understanding of the customer lifecycle, with a proven ability to drive adoption, engagement, and retention of high-value customers.

  • Outstanding storytelling and content development skills, with a bias toward action and creativity, and clarity.

  • Experience working cross-functionally with Sales, CS, Product, and PMM to align on goals and execute flawlessly.

  • Confident, collaborative, and comfortable presenting to internal and external senior stakeholders.

  • Based in or able to work from the London Smartly office for 3 days a week (hybrid structure), with flexibility for travel to key customer markets and events.
