Sr Data Engineer II - Salesforce (Hybrid)

About the Role

The Field Systems team is looking for a talented and experienced Salesforce Data Engineer to join our growing India-based Data Engineering team. In this role, you will be the bridge between Smartsheet's Salesforce CRM ecosystem and our broader enterprise data platform. You will design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines that ensure clean, reliable, and timely data flows across the organization enabling sales, marketing, finance, and leadership teams to make data-driven decisions with confidence.

 

You Will:

Pipeline & Integration Management

  • Create scalable ETL/ELT pipelines to move and transform data between Salesforce and platforms like Snowflake or NetSuite.
  • Use Salesforce APIs (REST, SOAP, Bulk) and tools like Boomi, MuleSoft, or Python to maintain integrations.
  • Use Apache Airflow for scheduling and Salesforce Flow for event-driven automation.

Data Architecture & Modeling

  • Design and maintain relational and dimensional data models.
  • Develop dbt models to prepare datasets for Sales, Marketing, and Revenue teams.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of Salesforce’s custom and standard object models.

Performance & Quality Control

  • Monitor pipeline performance to meet SLAs and minimize data delays.
  • Enforce standards for data cleansing, deduplication, and validation.
  • Document data lineage and ownership policies to ensure proper data management.

Collaboration & Analytics Support

  • Prepare data for tools like Tableau and Power BI to power dashboards and forecasts.
  • Partner with Salesforce admins, analysts, and RevOps to gather requirements and provide technical guidance.
  • Engage in sprint planning, code reviews, and technical design within an Agile framework.

You have:

  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering, with at least 4 years specifically working with Salesforce data.
  • Strong data modeling skills (relational, dimensional and flattened). Strong analytical and SQL skills, with attention to detail
  • Must have data engineering experience with 1 or more non-SQL languages like Python, Scala or Java
  • Hands-on experience with Salesforce APIs (REST, SOAP, Bulk API) and tools such as Data Loader or Salesforce Connect.
  • Experience with at least one cloud data warehouse: Snowflake, Google BigQuery, or Amazon Redshift.
  • Familiarity with dbt (data build tool) for transformation and data modelling.
  • Familiarity with both established and emerging data technologies and the ability to evaluate and ascertain their applicability
  • Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to collaborate across global time zones.
  • Self-driven and highly dependable in an agile and results-oriented environment

Good to have

  • Salesforce certifications such as Salesforce Administrator, Platform App Builder, or Data Architect.
  • Experience with MuleSoft, Fivetran, or Informatica for enterprise integration.
  • Exposure to CRM Analytics (formerly Tableau CRM / Einstein Analytics).
  • Experience working in a SaaS company or high-growth technology environment.
  • Familiarity with data governance frameworks, GDPR/PDPA data compliance, or data cataloguing tools (e.g., Alation, Collibra).
  • Understanding of event-driven architectures and streaming platforms such as Apache Kafka or Salesforce Platform Events.
