Treasury Middle Office Lead is an expert role responsible for managing all middle-office functions related to treasury trading activities. This includes overseeing risk management, operational controls, trade lifecycle processes, and support for new treasury products such as CLOs, Export Finance, and FX Spot. The role acts as the critical link between front-office trading desks and the operational, risk, and technology functions supporting treasury activities. The role involves close collaboration with the Treasury Trading desk, Risk, IT, and Compliance teams to support the strategic growth of treasury products. You should be adaptable to a fast-paced environment, capable of managing operational risks associated with innovative treasury products.
Your Role

Risk & Control Frameworks for Treasury Activities
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve control frameworks specific to treasury trading products, ensuring mitigation of operational, financial, and regulatory risks.
- Monitor performance metrics, error rates, and process reliability to optimize treasury trade operations.
- Act as the primary contact for audits and regulatory reviews related to treasury trading and risk management, ensuring compliance with German and international standards.
- Trade Lifecycle & Operational Oversight
- Oversee the end-to-end trade lifecycle management for treasury products, including CLOs, Export Finance, FX Trading, and fixed income instruments, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
- Lead initiatives to automate and streamline treasury processes through system enhancements, automation, and collaboration with IT.
- Ensure accurate and timely regulatory reporting, including trade confirmations, P&L, exposure, and risk reporting pertinent to treasury activities.
- Contribute client onboarding processes for treasury transactions, including KYC/AML checks where applicable.
- Support for Treasury Product Expansion
- Provide operational and risk management support for the launch and scaling of treasury-specific products, including CLOs, Insured Export Finance, and FX Spot.
- Collaborate with Treasury Trading, Risk, Legal, and IT teams to ensure smooth integration and operational readiness for new products and trading strategies.
- Identify operational risks and challenges associated with complex treasury products and develop mitigation strategies.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Issue Resolution
- Act as the key liaison between Treasury Trading desks, Risk, IT, Compliance, and Back Office to facilitate seamless communication and issue resolution.
- Support strategic initiatives, new product launches, and changes to treasury trading structures with operational insights.
- Lead incident management to resolve operational issues swiftly and effectively.
- Leadership & Talent Development
- Lead, develop, and motivate the Treasury Middle Office team, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Recruit, coach, and nurture talent with expertise in treasury products, risk management, and operational processes.
- Implement succession planning and ongoing professional development programs.

- 8+ years of experience in Middle Office, Back Office, Operations, or Risk Management within a financial institution’s treasury function.
- Proven experience supporting treasury trading activities, including derivatives, FX, CLOs, Export Finance, and fixed income instruments.
- Deep understanding of treasury trade lifecycle processes, financial instruments, and relevant regulatory frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams in a high-pressure treasury environment.
- Strong stakeholder management and ability to communicate complex issues clearly.
- Familiarity with treasury trading platforms, risk systems, automation tools, and regulatory reporting systems.
- Strategic mindset for leveraging technology to improve operational efficiency.
Working Model
- You’re based in Berlin, or willing to commute to Berlin for few days every month for stakeholders collaboration, team projects, etc.
