Role Summary
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Threat Detection Platform team and help build the next generation of malware detection and analysis technologies. This role focuses on developing scalable cloud-based services that analyze, classify, and process suspicious files using a combination of static analysis, dynamic analysis, and machine learning techniques.
The ideal candidate will have strong software engineering fundamentals, expertise in Python development, and experience working with security-focused platforms, distributed systems, and cloud-native applications. You will play a key role in enhancing detection capabilities, improving platform reliability, and driving innovation across our threat analysis ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain core components of the Threat Detection Platform, including file ingestion, task orchestration, analysis workflows, and management APIs.
- Build and enhance static analysis engines for malware detection, including PE file inspection, code-signing validation, YARA scanning, document macro analysis, archive inspection, and reputation-based lookups.
- Develop and maintain dynamic analysis capabilities, including sandbox orchestration, behavioral analysis, event collection, and threat intelligence processing.
- Integrate and optimize machine learning models for automated classification of files and threat detection.
- Develop automated testing frameworks and integration tests to ensure end-to-end platform quality and accuracy.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues using logs, metrics, monitoring tools, and database analysis.
- Improve platform scalability, performance, reliability, and code quality while reducing technical debt.
- Participate in architecture discussions, design reviews, and code reviews to ensure engineering best practices.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of software engineering experience with a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Strong programming skills in Python, including multithreading, REST API development, and database interaction.
- Working knowledge of C/C++ for debugging and supporting existing platform components.
- Experience with malware analysis concepts, including:
- PE file structures and code signing
- YARA rules
- Office macro analysis
- PDF and archive inspection
- Familiarity with machine learning model deployment and inference using frameworks such as PyTorch, LightGBM, or Scikit-learn.
- Experience with Linux-based environments, microservices architectures, and distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with technologies such as MS SQL/MySQL, Redis, RabbitMQ, Docker, Jenkins, and Git.
- Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building threat detection, malware analysis, cybersecurity, or endpoint security products.
- Knowledge of sandboxing technologies, behavioral analysis, and threat intelligence platforms.
- Experience with cloud-native applications and large-scale security platforms.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD and DevSecOps practices.
