Marketing Data Engineer Intern – Masters or PhD

About the Team:

Our Marketing Technology (MarTech) team plays a critical role in delivering data-driven marketing products. The Data Engineering team within MarTech focuses on optimizing and building marketing data infrastructure. We work closely with a variety of data, product, and business teams to scale and lead Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Global Marketing Infrastructure.

Our agile and passionate team is responsible for building the core of Marketing Data Science that supports all PlayStation products and services worldwide.

 

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Collaborate with data users to understand business requirements.

  • Design high-performance, reusable, and scalable data models for our data warehouse to ensure consistent and reliable analytics.

  • Write complex yet optimized data transformations in SQL/Python using dbt or similar technology.

  •   Continuously discover, transform, test, deploy, and document data sources.

  • Apply advanced data wrangling techniques, such as imputation, for predictive analytics.

  • Work with a wide range of technologies, including Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, Fivetran, AWS, Spark, and GCP environments like BigQuery, Cloud Composer, and Cloud Dataflow.

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s  of PhD degree program from an accredited institution, with an expected graduation date by Spring 2026.

  • Pursuing a graduate degree in Computer Science, MIS, or Business Analytics with a strong understanding of computer science concepts.

  • Excellent knowledge of SQL and Python, with hands-on experience in data modeling and data warehousing.

  • Familiarity with technologies such as dbt or Cloud Dataflow for orchestrating data transformations.

  • Experience applying software engineering best practices to analytics (e.g., version control, testing, and CI/CD).

  • Strong communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

  •  3+ years of experience as a data or software engineer in a fast-paced, growing company.

Eligibility:

  • Able to work during one of the following periods: May 19th - August 8th or June 16th - September 5th.

  • Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.

  • Must be available for the entire 12-week internship period.

  • Open to students who are U.S. citizens or international students with an F-1 visa.

 

Our intern positions offer a fixed hourly pay rate. Please note that the pay rate is exclusive to the internship period and may not reflect what pay may look like following the completion of an internship.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location. 

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. 

 

Intern Pay Range

$54 - $57.75 USD
