Senior Software Engineer, PC Engineer

San Francisco, CA

Are you looking for a challenge?

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join the team to develop, maintain, and improve the frameworks powering a rich set of user experiences on desktop platforms.

You will be a key member of our PC app team and bring delightful experiences to enhance the PlayStation ecosystem. Come be part of the team to realize the next phase of gaming expansion for our 100M+ monthly active PlayStation users.

Responsibilities: 

  • Produce and integrate frameworks and SDKs to support development across teams for the PC platform and meet feature and performance requirements
  • Build native plugins in C++ or other native Windows environment for deeper integration with the OS. 
  • Maintain stability, performance, and quality of the codebase by applying development standards while using automation to support internal CI/CD workflows
  • Refine business requirements for implementation in the PlayStation PC app 
  • You will collaborate with UI designers and product managers to break down requirements into work packages and craft compelling PC user experiences.
  • Apply architectural design patterns such as MVC, MVVM, MVP to develop sustainable and reusable codebase.
  • Collaborate with an international team of developers, UI designers, and product managers (USA/Japan/Canada).
  • Represent the team in technical forums, present designs, and share experiences with other Sony software development organizations.
  • Develop a production quality application in React Native.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and craft solutions to improve customer delight.

Required Qualifications:

  • A real passion for developing fluid user experiences.
  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of software development experience.
  • Experience writing high-performance code in C++ and JavaScript
  • Experience with Windows application development
  • Experience with API and Solution Design
  • Expert knowledge of the general PC landscape, architectures, trends, platform features and new technologies.
  • Experience with Agile development methodology (ex: Scrum).

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiar with React Native
  • Experience with open-source contributions, especially library development.
  • Experience writing multi-threaded application
  • Familiar with Jenkins or any CI/CD tools

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$187,700 - $281,500 USD
