The role

We create development tools for PlayStation® platforms. From compilers and performance analysers to audio and graphics tools, our products are designed to make PlayStation® developers' lives easier and more efficient.  In order to help us to continue to move forward and meet the needs of an ever-changing technical landscape, we are looking for a project manager to join our team in London, UK, supporting us in the delivery of the best possible game developer experience.

As a Project Manager you will be working at the heart of our software development life cycle, creating plans, monitoring progress, and co-ordinating test and releases. The PlayStation® SDK is the result of a global engineering effort working closely with multiple teams within SIE (Sony Interactive Entertainment). The SDK is released several times per year to PlayStation® game developers and internal teams across SIE. Working primarily with London-based development and QE teams you will be responsible for managing resource across the QE cycle, ensuring that features are tested in line with the required timescales. Additionally, planning and managing QE efforts to support development projects outside the release cycle will be a key part of the role. Your efforts will contribute towards every piece of software released for PlayStation®, and ultimately to the continued success of Sony Interactive Entertainment.

This position is suitable for Project Managers with a software engineering background. We would love to hear from you if you take pride in delivering high quality projects on time and on budget and you are excited at the prospect of looking for ways to improve existing processes and tools. What you’ll be doing

  • Support the QE manager to coordinate software test and release activities:

    • Create project plans for software projects, considering agreed objectives, milestones and quality. 

    • Co-ordinate product test activities.

    • Report progress to stakeholders. 

  • Work with all teams to continually improve our software testing processes.

  • Manage internal projects to ensure that we achieve the optimal balance between those projects which improve our own quality-of-life, and our external commitments. 

  • Contribute to improving project management and software development practices. 

What we are looking for

  • 5+ years relevant project management experience.

    • Experience of managing several software development projects with the following characteristics: medium to high risk and cost; multiple organizations; global sites.

  • A project management qualification (PMI, APM etc.) would be an advantage.

  • A track record of delivering projects on schedule.    

  • Experience of project managing multiple software development projects in parallel. 

  • Experience with change management and projects involving standardisation.

  • Experience of using Agile methods in software development, e.g Scrum

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 

  • Strong problem-solving skills. 

Nice to have

  • Experience with business process improvement.

  • Experience of improving software quality.

  • Understanding of software development languages and tools.

  • Experience of Jira, Confluence.

  • Experience of Japanese, Indian and US culture/language.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
