This role will be based in Culver City, CA.

Reporting directly to the President of Sony Music Vision, the VP, Finance will provide strategic financial guidance to drive informed decision-making, optimize financial performance, and support growth initiatives. In this role, you will serve as business partner to the division’s executives and play a critical role in overseeing the financial operations, strategic planning, and financial analysis, ensuring alignment with business unit objectives and overall Sony Music Group goals. This role requires a dynamic strategic thinker with exceptional business acumen and proven leadership skills.

What you'll do:

  • Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities, forecast and budget submissions, journal entry and expenditure preparation and approvals, compensation planning, and cost management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Production Operations, Sales & Distribution, Business & Legal Affairs, People Experience, and multiple SME Record Labels to guide F&TV financial operations across the globe.
  • Support Production Operations in the review, tracking, and oversight of production budgets, cost reports, and funding schedules.
  • Perform deal analysis for new F&TV projects to optimize profitability and minimize financial risks.
  • Interface with Global Finance, Corporate Shared Services, and SME Record Labels to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and compliance with company policies & procedures and industry standards.
  • Liaise with Royalty and Joint Venture Accounting in connection with review, approval, and timely rendering of statements to artists, producers, and other third parties.
  • Prepare presentations of SMV performance, key financial metrics, risks and opportunities for meetings with business unit and corporate senior executives.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, market developments, and emerging technologies to inform strategic financial decisions and drive innovation within the organization.

Who you are:

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
  • You have a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in financial management roles within the Film & TV or related entertainment sector (music industry a plus), with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
  • You have a proven track record of success in financial planning, analysis, and reporting, with deep understanding of Film & TV industry economics, revenue streams, and deal structures.
  • You have a strong understanding of financial accounting principles and proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting techniques, and financial software applications (e.g., SAP including IP and BPC, Power BI, Excel).
  • You have excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to synthesize complex financial data into actionable insights and recommendations.
  • You have demonstrated strategic thinking skills and business acumen, with the ability to anticipate market trends, assess competitive landscapes, and execute strategies to optimize financial performance.
  • You have exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • You have strong integrity, ethics, and commitment to upholding the highest standards of financial integrity.

The anticipated annual base salary does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for.  The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.

California Pay Range

$185,000 - $225,000 USD
