The Analytics Representative position is a great way to learn about the music business, gain analytics & research experience, and get your foot in the door of one of the world’s leading entertainment companies.
As a member of the Insights & Reporting team, the Analytics Representative is responsible for generating analyses and audience insights for Sony Music spanning its robust + diverse roster of artists and labels. The representative will work closely with members of the Insight & Reporting team to address critical business questions across US Commercial Partnerships, Global Digital Business and Sony Music's US labels.
This is a paid part-time position, requiring a minimum of 20 hours per week.
What you'll do:
- Utilize internal and external analytics tools to support reporting + analyses for evaluating new releases, understanding artist audiences and uncovering actionable insights to drive commercial strategies.
- Leverage a range of internal + 3rd party research & social media analytics tools to dig into consumer behavior and sentiment among fans of various genres, artists + various platforms.
- Generate custom insights from analyzing various data sources to tell a holistic story about the artist’s fan-base + how to effectively reach them, providing actionable recommendations where relevant.
- Perform deep dive research to understand the latest trends across the music industry and relevant categories to inform decision making
Who you are:
- Currently enrolled as either an undergraduate or graduate student in an accredited program. Must have at least 1 year left of academic program (preferably two years).
- Strong work ethic, knowledge and passion for music
- Interest in analytics, research and how data is used in the music industry
- Excellent Powerpoint, Word and Excel skills
- Experience using a diverse range of analytics tools and basic knowledge on how to query databases (e.g. SQL, Alteryx, Brandwatch, Looker, Tableau, R, Qualtrics, etc).
- Display creativity in problem-solving and idea generation
