As an A&R Representative, you will identify new artists who have the potential to be commercially successful, serving as liaison between artists and label leaders.
What you'll do:
- Identify potential new talent using every resource available
- Conduct online research of artist/band websites and social networking sites: Monitor weekly sales, streaming numbers, playlisting, press coverage and social media of potential signings
- Assist the A&R Research team and act as the bridge between the Research and A&R departments
- Assist A&R team with collecting data on artists, signings, and the market
- Attend live performances at clubs, showcases, concerts, writer’s rounds, and other venues
- Log, review and recommend submitted/solicited demos and artists/bands
- Act as liaison between potential artists / new acts and label A&R leaders
- Collaborate with A&R staff, artist management and A&R Administration & Operations in handling the coordination of all aspects of the recording process for assigned projects
- Create a network of resources including songwriters, producers, managers, booking agents, attorneys, concert promoters, trade and consumer press, and tastemakers
- Manage internal organization and distribution of digital music and videos
- Work with internal departments (i.e. Marketing, Digital, Sales, etc.) to bring in unsigned artists and their respective teams to meet with the staff as part of the pitch and courting process
- Develop strong professional working relationships with artists, producers and their management teams.
- Work closely with A&R Administration to monitor all A&R budgets and related matters of spending under contractual agreements.
Who you are:
- You are passionate about new music discovery
- Exceptional communication skills
- Strong knowledge of various genres of music with the ability to separate/identify the commercially viable from the pack
- Prior experience interacting with recording artists; an understanding of artist lifestyle
- Experience in a position that required exceptional time management skills; ability to prioritize and multi-task; ability to work independently, but be a team player
- Working knowledge of digital music space and social media

New York Pay Range
$64,400 - $70,000 USD
