Sony Pictures Imageworks is currently seeking a Technical Trainer to join our Learning and Development team!
What you'll be doing:
- You're the go-to for new starter technical training across the studio.
- You'll be teaching classes on technical tools and how our pipeline works.
- Get ready to create, team up on, and organize training content.
- Writing and posting docs on Confluence is your jam.
- Keeping our learning programs updated on the LMS (Learning Management System) is also on your plate.
Your day-to-day responsibilities might look like this:
- New Starter Training: You'll run the week-long intro class for all the new folks. This includes sorting out tech glitches, giving feedback, chatting with managers, and checking homework ("quests"!).
- Scheduling: liaise with the L&D coordinator to get those new starter training sessions booked.
- Content Creation: Work with the Heads of Department and SMEs to make sure training content is fresh. Tweak curriculums when needed.
- SME Course Help: Lend a hand to those SMEs making training stuff. Think Loom videos, Confluence pages, and LMS wrangling.
- LMS Support: Team up with the L&D coordinator to manage licenses, add content, assign courses, and track progress on the LMS.
- Confluence Guru: Keep all the training docs updated and create new ones for teams or the whole studio.
- Training Room: Make sure the training rooms are ready to roll, and that the AV tech is working sweet. Help set up for other learning events too.
- Team Player: You'll be part of the L&D crew, so expect meetings, updates, and good vibes.
- Documentation: Keep all the process docs up-to-date, especially for new starter training.
- Newbie Cheerleader: Offer one-on-one help to new starters and be timely to answer emails and chats.
- Feedback Giver: Keep tabs on any training hiccups and share that info with the right people to make things better.
What you gotta bring to the table:
- Teaching & Design Skills: At least 3 years teaching, in-person or online, with a true love for it. You know how to design engaging training and measure if it actually works.
- Tech & Industry: Super knowledgeable about CG film production pipelines (how movies are made!). You're a wizard with 3D animation software like Maya, Katana, Houdini, Blender, Nuke, Substance, Mari, Unreal, and Linux. You've got at least 5 years of experience in CG production in a 3D animation studio. You just get the animation industry.
- People Person: You can break down complex tech stuff for anyone. Great at talking, writing, and getting along with others. You've worked in global teams and can build strong relationships, understand different cultures and communicate well.
- Problem Solver & Flexible: At least 3 years of experience fixing tech/pipeline issues when things are moving fast. You stay cool under pressure and thrive in a busy, growing global studio. You're chill with constant change and look for opportunities to improve workflows.
- Organized & Document Pro: You're super organized and great with time. You know your way around documentation platforms like Confluence and Google Docs.
- Curious & Consultative: You're curious and love asking questions to figure out what people need for training and turn that into awesome programs.
- Schooling: Graduation from a relevant program in 3D animation, A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Film Production, or a related field is a plus.
