Sony Pictures Imageworks is currently seeking a VFX Trainer to join our Learning and Development team!
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Director of L&D, The artist trainer is responsible for weekly onboarding and new starter training. This role acts as a critical connection for all new starters in their first week, conducting in person training sessions, supporting remote hires online and managing training through our online platform.
What you'll be doing:
● Training You’ll spend much of your time in the classroom facilitating our industry leading training for all ‘New Starters’ in all departments.
● Documentation: Keep all the process docs up-to-date, especially for new starter training.
● Collect feedback on completed training to evaluate and measure results and suggest improvements where required
● Provide feedback to AM’s on new hire progress
● Show Support: supporting new hires when they transition onto their shows
● Content Creation: Work with the Heads of Department and SMEs to make sure training content is fresh. Tweak curriculums when needed. Create training videos, documentation and courses.
● LMS Support: Team up with the L&D coordinator to manage licenses, add content, assign courses, and track progress on the LMS.
● Confluence Guru: Keep all the training docs updated and create new ones for teams or the whole studio.
● Team Player: You'll be part of the L&D crew, so expect meetings, updates, and good vibes.
Required skills and attributes:
● In person and online teaching skills: At least 3 years teaching, in-person and online, with a true love for it. You know how to create a safe engaging environment where new starters thrive.
● Tech & Industry: Super knowledgeable about CG film production pipelines (how movies are made!). You're a wizard with 3D animation software like Maya, Katana, Houdini, Blender, Nuke, Substance, Mari, Unreal, and Linux. You've got at least 5 years of experience in CG production in a 3D animation studio. You just get the animation industry.
● Curious & Consultative: You're curious and love asking questions to figure out what people need for training and turn that into awesome programs.
● People Person: You can break down complex tech for everyone. Great at talking, writing, and getting along with others. You've worked in global teams and can build strong relationships, understand different cultures and communicate well.
● Problem Solver & Flexible: Experience fixing tech/pipeline issues when things are moving fast. You stay cool under pressure and thrive in a busy work environment. You're a change advocate and look for opportunities to improve workflows.
● Organized & Document Pro: You're super organized and great with time. You know your way around documentation platforms like Confluence and Google Docs.
● Proactive and a Quick Learner: There’s always something new to learn, you are proactive at keeping your knowledge up to date, resourceful in using our content streams and curious to learn from those around you.
● Schooling: Graduation from a relevant program in 3D animation.
Vancouver in - office based
The anticipated base salary for this position is $85,000 - $95,000/yr CAD. Benefits are per company policy: which include healthcare, tuition reimbursement, RRSP's, Sick and Vacation leave, standard increases as applicable. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
