Job Summary
The Project Manager, PSR serves as the operational backbone of the Production Services and Resources (PSR) department. This role ensures the smooth day-to-day administration of the department, optimizes crew allocation, and project manages the rollout of studio workflows. The Project Manager, PSR acts as a vital bridge between PSR leadership, Lead PSTs, Production Management, and HR, allowing technical leadership to focus on pipeline strategy and tool development.  Comfort with metrics, data analytics, visualization, and overall project and product management workflows is essential.  The role is responsible for communicating and working with Systems Engineering and Software Development teams within the tech group. The Project Manager, PSR reports into the Head of Systems Engineering.  

Education and Certifications

Formal Education

High school diploma.

Preferred Certifications

  • Project Management certification such as PMP is desired

Primary areas of responsibility will include:

Operations, HR, and Administration

  • Administrates day-to-day departmental operations, including crewing, crew scheduling, location assignments, timecards, and vacation approvals
  • Assists departmental HR related needs: Coordinating review feedback, merit increases, and the onboarding/offboarding of the PST team members
  • Partners with the Head of PSR to coordinate recruiting efforts, schedule interviews, and organize training
  • Collaborates with the Training department to schedule and facilitate internal courses (e.g., "PSTs Partnering with Production," "Inside PST," and the "Executive Overview")

Workflow Systematization and Project Management

  • Drives the systematization of PSR workflows, ensuring standard operating procedures (SOPs) are documented, communicated, and adopted across production and technology teams
  • Shepherds team members’ processes by tracking departmental goals and ensuring accountability for deliverables
  • Partners with the PSR Dev & Resources teams and Lead PSTs to project manage PSR consumed rollouts
  • Gathers feedback from department members regarding process bottlenecks and workflow inefficiencies, presenting actionable data to the Head of PSR
  • Works closely with technology project managers to ensure collaboration and departmental goals are being met

Resource and Budget Tracking

  • Provide regular updates and reports on key project metrics, including resource allocation, to ensure that the team's resources are utilized effectively.
  • Assists the Head of PSR in forecasting and tracking the yearly departmental budget
  • Monitors show resource utilization and addresses production conflicts

Experience:

  • 4+ years of experience in the games, VFX, or software industry
  • Detail-oriented candidate with exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Strong communicator, capable of influencing and working effectively with engineers, project managers, and leadership at all levels
  • Clear understanding of how innovative tools can enhance productivity and quality of life, with the ability to influence and integrate these tools into production pipelines
  • Previous experience in analytics and data transformation
  • Adaptable to changes, essential for thriving in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven ability to prioritize, multitask, and manage complex issues and relationships
  • Experience collaborating with teams and team members across different locations and time zones around the globe

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with programming, CG software and tools, along with knowledge of the VFX pipeline
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum or lean methodologies
  • PMP certification is a plus

The anticipated base salary for this position is $67,300.00 - $84,100.00/yr CAD. Benefits are per company policy: which include healthcare, tuition reimbursement, RRSP's, Sick and Vacation leave, standard increases as applicable. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
