Sotheby’s believes in the transformative power of art and culture and is committed to making our industries more inclusive, sustainable and collaborative.

THE ROLE

Sotheby’s is evolving from a storied auction house into a unified global luxury platform. We are seeking a powerhouse finance professional to help execute this vision. This role will sit at the center of a high-growth mandate, consolidating independent global initiatives under the umbrella of Sotheby’s Development Advisors (SDA), including but not limited to: real estate development and management projects; art and luxury storage offerings; hospitality and brand licensing; expanding real estate sales platforms and related technology development; advancing educational partnerships; growing F&B and event space revenue at our flagship locations; and driving net new growth initiatives, both organically and through acquisition.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluate investments and develop capital structures for the development of global luxury properties
  • Structure complex partnership deals with developers and hospitality groups using benefit sharing models to expand the brand ecosystem
  • Develop financial models that support the overall strategic growth plan and maximize return on investment across different project stages in each business line within the SDA portfolio
  • Leverage market and industry analysis to size opportunities and translate insights into actionable strategic initiatives and board‑level recommendations
  • Build business cases for brand deals and partnerships, including joint ventures
  • Partner with the tech and business intelligence teams on leveraging data to build products, inform decision-making and drive growth across the SDA business portfolio
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Sotheby’s to drive growth across SDA projects, including global real estate, marketing, communications, finance, HR, legal, fine art, luxury, and classic cars

IDEAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES

  • 10+ years of experience in private equity, investment banking, or strategic finance within the luxury, real estate or hospitality sectors
  • Proven track record of structuring complex international fund vehicles and multi-party development deals
  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and the ability to translate consumer data into long-term revenue projections
  • Demonstrated ability to manage high-level stakeholders across diverse business units, ranging from fine art and luxury to education and residential real estate
  • Deep understanding of capital markets and the mechanics of benefit sharing models in a co-development context
  • Exceptional communication skills for presenting business cases that balance brand preservation with aggressive earnings growth
