Media Assistant
The SPLC is seeking a Media Assistant who is passionate about racial and social justice!
The Media Assistant tracks media mentions, generates reports, and coordinates events and projects for the Communications team.

Experienced. Demonstrated experience working as an administrative assistant providing daily office support.

What You'll Do
Conduct media tracking for Media Strategists.
Generate reports including board reports and weekly reports.
Assist with events and projects, including the Midterm Democracy Project, and manages Airtable for media team.
Research, create, edit, copyedit, and write internal and external outreach media materials.
Schedule interviews and distribute press releases, statements, and other materials to media members.
Onboard new staff and perform general administrative duties.
Schedule and coordinate interviews with spokespeople and assist in the production of internal media materials.
Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification.
Minimum Qualifications

- Minimum 6 months of supporting media or public relations teams; and
- High School Diploma or GED.
Compensation & Benefits
This is a non-exempt role and the minimum starting salary is $44,558 ($21.42 per hour) annually. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

Where & How You'll Work
This role has the following work designation options:
- Local Remote: Will work remotely, but is expected to attend work-related activities that occur at the SPLC offices or in the states in which the SPLC operates.
- Telework: Will work at an SPLC office at least three days per week and may work two days per week from an alternative work location.
- This position will report to the Deputy Director, Public & Media Relations.
Other Special Considerations
This job is performed under general office conditions and is not subject to any strenuous physical demands or dangerous conditions.
This position is represented by the Washington-Baltimore New Guild.
