Senior UI/UX Designer

As a Senior UX Designer at SpotOn, you will apply your hybrid skill sets in visual design, design systems and interaction design to create compelling solutions informed by user research and analytics. You will focus on creating simple and innovative solutions that address merchants’ and employees’ needs for Restaurant and Retail businesses across the United States. These may include point-of-sale systems on handheld and station devices, customer-facing displays, kitchen displays, printers, kiosks, phone apps, system dashboards, reporting tools and more.

The ideal candidate for this position has the ability to instill deep customer empathy into our decision-making. You will connect regularly with merchants through proactive, hands-on outreach to understand how they work and how our systems can improve their lives and businesses in order to create and recommend elegant, effective solutions from otherwise complex workflows.In this role, you’ll invest your time and attention to the full end-to-end experience of the products we build. You’ll collaborate daily with cross-functional partners in Product Design, Brand and Marketing, Product Management and Engineering teams to iterate, refine and present compelling, world-class experiences for SpotOn products. You’ll measure success through customer feedback, data, and competitive analysis, and you’ll recommend easy and effective flows for our tools and products. 

Design is integral to our success in building products that people love. At SpotOn, as a Senior UX Designer, you will provide design systems guidance and conceptualize UX ecosystems in meaningful ways that resolve key customer problems and elevate our product experiences, while modeling best practices and leveraging cutting-edge technology for your peers in our UX organization. You’ll iterate rapidly, prototype concepts, and create compelling presentations that influence stakeholders and drive the customer experience forward. 

On a daily basis, you will:

  • Drive creative and holistic design thinking for a diverse suite of web and mobile applications and devices. Experience leading design workshops and designing for Android is a plus.
  • Build strong relationships and clear communication channels with cross-functional partners to efficiently explore and implement user experiences that are customer-centric, cohesive, inclusive, and competitive in the market.
  • Advocate and be responsible for SpotOn users within a fast-paced environment, serving multiple stakeholders and balancing competing priorities.
  • Estimate, plan and track your UX projects and deliverables from inception to completion through iterative stages, optimizing for user experience quality and timely delivery of design specifications and assets.
  • Produce meaningful, comprehensive design documentation for information architecture, navigation, task flows, UI patterns and components for mobile, Web and touchscreen point-of-sale systems.
  • Apply strong foundational knowledge of visual design principles to your design solutions, working within the SpotOn design system and brand guidelines, and evolving the design system with strategic, scalable proposed contributions in collaboration with the Design System team.  
  • Proactively participate in the planning and conducting of user research activities to gather customer insights and leverage data analytics and competitive analyses to inform your design decisions.
  • Proactively participate in group design reviews to receive and provide feedback to ensure high quality designs and great customer experience outcomes.
  • Work across Poland, Mexico and US time zones to collaborate and meet timelines.

What skill are we searching for?

  • 5+ years of product user experience design with an accompanying UX-focused portfolio of work samples for web and mobile applications. Please be prepared to articulate the design challenge or problem that was solved and your design rationale behind your design choices, in addition to your design artifacts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English – bonus for additional language skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills; the ability to communicate complex interaction concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization.
  • Experience designing for software product experiences from inception to launch.
  • Experience with design thinking frameworks, as well as translating UX research insights into inventive design solutions that address user needs/pains.
  • Experience with mobile-first product design and designing UX for consumer-facing and business-facing web and mobile applications.
  • Sharp attention to detail and thorough in design documentation.
  • Experience balancing product, development, and user-centered goals to help shape overall product strategy.
  • Effective in working across organizational boundaries to collaborate proactively with partners across Brand, Marketing, Product Management, Engineering and neighboring UX teams.
  • Expertise in industry standard design tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, etc. to produce design deliverables. Familiarity with user research tools is a plus.

Compensation:

  • Our base pay range is $130,000 -$170,000 for this role + RSUs. 
  • Please note the salary range listed is just one component of a competitive compensation package which includes a company stock plan
  • Offers will be reflective of the candidate’s location and experience.
