Career Opportunity – Relationship Coach with Found Village in Cincinnati, OH

Do you believe one trusted adult can change a young person’s direction? Are you someone who builds trust by consistently showing up, following through, and continuing to believe in a young person when progress is slow? If so, we want to speak with you.

Found Village is seeking a Relationship Coach to build meaningful, long-term relationships with young people ages 13-18. In this role, you’ll help teens strengthen their sense of belonging, recognize their abilities, develop practical skills, and build a network of trusted adults who will remain in their lives.

Responsibilities:

  • Build consistent, trusting relationships with young people while creating a safe, supportive environment and maintaining healthy professional boundaries.
  • Help teens identify their strengths, interests, values, and goals through thoughtful questions, encouragement, and appropriate accountability.
  • Support youth ages 13-15 in developing communication, emotional-management, problem-solving, confidence, identity, and a sense of belonging.
  • Help younger teens build healthy, lasting relationships with peers, caregivers, mentors, and other supportive adults.
  • Prepare youth ages 16-18 for adulthood by helping them take ownership of their goals, decisions, and future plans.
  • Coach older teens through planning, employment, first-job experiences, job training, post-secondary opportunities, and other important transitions.
  • Help teens build practical life skills, greater independence, and the ability to make informed decisions.
  • Collaborate with caregivers, families, schools, employers, mentors, service providers, and community partners to coordinate support and address barriers early.
  • Advocate for young people while keeping their voices, preferences, and goals at the center and helping them develop lasting relationships outside Found Village.
  • Communicate proactively, maintain accurate documentation, follow through consistently, and coordinate thoughtful transitions to the next stage of support.

Requirements:

  • Experience coaching, mentoring, or working directly with youth in a professional, educational, community-based, or similar setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust over time, including with young people who may be hesitant to engage.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with families, schools, employers, providers, and community partners.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality.
  • Strong organization, documentation, and follow-through.

Who thrives in this role:

You bring a coaching mindset and help young people develop their own solutions. You are patient and resilient when progress is gradual, combine compassion with accountability, and are comfortable having direct and respectful conversations. You approach behavior with curiosity rather than judgment and bring emotional maturity, humility, adaptability, self-awareness, initiative, and a willingness to seek feedback and adapt your approach. Most importantly, you are committed to empowering young people rather than creating dependence.

What success looks like:

In your first 90 days, you'll build trust and emotional safety, learn each young person's story, strengths and support network, and begin forming relationships with caregivers, schools and partners.

By six months, young people are actively engaged and working toward goals they helped set. You're coordinating across their support network and adapting your coaching to each young person's developmental stage.

By one year, young people consistently choose to engage and name you as one of their trusted adults. Younger teens show a stronger sense of belonging and identity; older teens increasingly own their decisions and make progress in education, employment and preparing for adulthood. Every young person has more trusted adults beyond Found Village than when they started.

Ultimately, the young people you support should be able to say:

“My coach knows me. My coach believes in me. My coach tells me the truth. My coach shows up. My coach won’t give up on me.”

The real picture:

This work is deeply relational, and progress is rarely linear. Some days, success may mean helping a young person through a difficult situation. Other days, it may be as simple—and meaningful—as having a teen answer your call when they would not have before.

Found Village is a growing organization where roles and systems continue to evolve. You’ll have meaningful autonomy, support from a collaborative team, and the opportunity to help shape how the organization serves young people. You may thrive here if you value long-term change over quick fixes, remain patient without becoming passive, and are motivated by building community and independence.

This may not be the right fit if you need quick results to stay motivated, prefer solving problems for people rather than coaching them, or measure success by tasks completed rather than relationships built.

Finalists will spend time with the team to experience the work firsthand before an offer is made.

Why Found Village?

Found Village believes every young person has strengths, potential, and a future worth investing in. The organization partners with families, schools, and community systems to surround teens with trusted, lasting relationships.

The goal is not for young people to depend on Found Village forever. It is for them to leave with greater confidence, stronger connections, and lifelong belonging within a caring community.

Our values:

Boundless Hope: Every young person has strengths, potential, and a future worth investing in.

Courageous Love: We build relationships strong enough to encourage, challenge, and remain present during difficult moments.

Safe Place, Safe People: We create emotionally and physically safe relationships built on trust, dignity, and belonging.

Collaborative Community: Young people are supported by an entire community, not just Found Village.

Spend It Well: We invest time where it creates lasting impact and strengthens relationships that endure.
