About HowardSimon Retirement:
Based in Chicago, Illinois, HowardSimon Retirement is a large independent TPA with recordkeeping and advisory capabilities that offers integrated retirement, payroll, and HR solutions through a tech-enhanced service delivery model. HowardSimon is an operating partner of Strongpoint Partners, a leading tech-enabled financial services retirement platform backed by Shore Capital Partners (SCP).
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Head of Product, the Business Analyst position will help bridge the gap between business needs and product development. This is a contract role, with the potential to convert to a full-time position based on performance and business needs. In this role, you will work closely with the head of product, software engineers, operations, and other cross-functional teams to ensure that we are solving the right problems with clear, actionable, and well-documented product requirements. Your ability to listen, synthesize complex information, and translate it into structured product documentation will directly influence the success of our product initiatives.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a fully remote position and can be performed from anywhere within the United States; however, due to the primary location of our headquarters, preference will be give to those in the Chicago area and able to work on a hybrid schedule. This is a full-time contract position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with product managers, operations teams, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather, clarify, and document business needs, user stories, and system requirements.
- Facilitate stakeholder interviews, requirements workshops, and discovery sessions to ensure alignment on problem statements, desired outcomes, and priorities.
- Draft clear and detailed functional and non-functional requirements, workflows, data definitions, and acceptance criteria that guide the product development process.
- Serve as a central point of truth for evolving requirements, ensuring that documentation remains current as priorities shift or new information arises.
- Identify gaps, dependencies, and potential risks early in the discovery and design phases.
- Support the product manager in backlog grooming, sprint planning, and cross-team coordination.
- Act as a translator between business and technical teams to ensure mutual understanding.
- Contribute to the development of process maps, user flows, and other visual aids that help stakeholders understand proposed solutions.
- Coordinate and actively participate in quality assurance and user acceptance testing.
- Travel to partner locations may be required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Product Analyst, or similar role in a technology or financial services environment.
- Strong experience gathering and documenting requirements for complex, tech-enabled products and systems.
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies, Jira, Confluence, or similar tools.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving environment where priorities may shift.
- Experience in financial services, fintech, or other regulated industries preferred
- Familiarity with APIs, data flows, and technical systems integrations (you do not need to be an engineer but should be able to communicate with them effectively).
- Experience supporting product development teams in a SaaS or B2B environment.
Pay Transparency Statement:
The anticipated compensation for this position is expected to be in a range of $35-$55 per hour.
At Strongpoint Partners, our salary ranges reflect the minimum and maximum base pay for the posted position applicable to all locations across the US. Within the posted salary range, individual pay is determined by the geographic location, job-related skills, experience, education, and certifications. Our total compensation package includes base pay plus a comprehensive benefits program, (if eligible).
