About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical candidate to join our dynamic Portfolio Oversight team. In this role, you will play a critical part in supporting our investment process by conducting in-depth research and analysis on both existing and prospective Portfolio Managers (PMs) within your assigned sector coverage. You will leverage data analysis techniques to assess PM performance, identify risks and opportunities, and contribute to the firm's overall investment decision-making process. Additionally, you will be responsible for proactively identifying investment opportunities and making well-researched investment pitches and calls to senior investment team members.

Responsibilities:

Portfolio Manager Monitoring:

  • Conduct ongoing monitoring and analysis of existing PMs within your assigned sector coverage.
  • Analyze PM performance data, including returns, risk metrics, portfolio holdings, and trade activity.
  • Track and assess PM adherence to investment mandates and risk parameters.
  • Identify potential performance drivers and risk factors for existing PMs.
  • Prepare periodic performance reports and presentations summarizing PM activity and highlighting key findings.

Portfolio Manager Underwriting:

  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis on prospective PMs within your assigned sector coverage.
  • Analyze PM investment strategies, track records, team composition, and competitive landscape.
  • Evaluate PM performance data, risk characteristics, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Develop comprehensive investment memos summarizing research findings and recommendations on prospective PMs.
  • Assist in the due diligence process, including conducting initial interviews, gathering information, and preparing materials for senior investment team members.

Research & Analysis:

  • Conduct in-depth research on market trends, sector dynamics, and the competitive landscape within your assigned sector coverage.
  • Analyze macroeconomic and geopolitical factors that may impact investment decisions.
  • Proactively identify investment opportunities, develop and present well-reasoned investment pitches to senior investment team members, and provide forward-thinking insights on portfolio strategy, asset allocation, and potential risks.

Data Analysis & Management:

  • Utilize data analysis tools and techniques (e.g., Excel, SQL, Python, R, statistical software) to extract insights from large datasets, including performance data, market data, and news feeds.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of research findings, PM performance data, and investment recommendations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in investment research, portfolio management, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in Excel and Bloomberg and familiarity with SQL, Python, R, or other relevant programming languages.
  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Interest in the equity markets and a passion for financial analysis.
  • CFA designation or progress towards completion is a plus.
