About Sustainable Talent

At Sustainable Talent, we build high-performing teams that match our clients' goals and values. We are partnering with a leading global automotive manufacturer to staff a brand-new battery pack assembly plant in Jeffersonville, Indiana. This is a rare chance to help build a greenfield operation from the ground up.

The Opportunity

As Area Manufacturing Manager, you will lead a battery pack assembly area at a greenfield site. You will build the people, processes and culture that make a new plant succeed. You will set and deliver performance goals, apply Lean Manufacturing principles, and use manufacturing execution systems (MES) and real-time data to improve operations. In partnership with other Area Managers and cross-functional teams, the Area Manager supports the standardized rollout and continuous improvements of Key Unifying Processes (KUP), represents the plant during launch, and develops employees and leaders through visible, inclusive leadership.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and deliver key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned with department and business objectives
  • Lead continuous improvement, Lean Manufacturing and change efforts, and set and achieve manufacturing standards
  • Use MES, real-time data and modern manufacturing systems to find bottlenecks and put lasting fixes in place
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on the plant's standard operating processes, and partner with other Area Managers on consistent plant-wide rollout
  • Lead, motivate and align diverse, multicultural teams; remove barriers and build employees' skills
  • Spend regular time on the production floor, applying Gemba principles to listen, understand challenges and solve problems
  • Build a culture grounded in the plant's vision, mission and values, with an emphasis on learning, communication and performance
  • Develop leaders as teachers, and make sure employees get the training, coaching and support they need to grow
  • Represent the plant during launch, communicate launch status, and request support resources based on operational priorities

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering or a related field
  • 5+ years of manufacturing, engineering or operations experience in leadership roles
  • A track record of attracting, developing and retaining high-performing, results-oriented teams
  • Ability to communicate complex operational concepts to all levels from shop-floor employees to executive stakeholders.
  • Strong business acumen, project management skills and financial literacy, including understanding of P&L
  • An emotionally intelligent, collaborative leadership style that builds trust and cross-functional relationships
  • Ability to lead through complexity and ambiguity, and align people from varied backgrounds around shared goals
  • Flexibility to work standard, operating and rotational schedules, including days, nights, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required

Nice to Have

  • Master's degree
  • 5+ years of battery manufacturing experience
