Drain Install Apprentice

Job Summary:

Swan has an exciting opportunity for a Drain Install Apprentice to join our team and build a career in residential plumbing. This is a hands-on position where you will work alongside experienced Drain Install Technicians, learning how to diagnose, repair, and install residential drain and sewer systems.

The Drain Install Apprentice will assist with drain and sewer installations, repairs, and related plumbing projects while gaining valuable field experience and developing the skills needed to advance in the plumbing trade. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, dependable, eager to learn, and takes pride in providing quality work and excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist experienced Drain Install Technicians with residential drain and sewer repairs and installations.
  • Learn to identify and understand common drain and sewer system issues.
  • Assist with drain clearing, pipe replacement, sewer line repairs, and other plumbing-related projects.
  • Properly use and maintain hand tools, power tools, equipment, and company vehicles as directed.
  • Follow all safety procedures, company policies, and applicable plumbing codes.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas at customer homes and job sites.
  • Assist with preparing materials, equipment, and tools needed for each job.
  • Communicate professionally and respectfully with homeowners, team members, dispatch, and management.
  • Provide a positive customer experience by representing the company professionally in the field.
  • Work closely with experienced technicians and managers to learn proper installation techniques and best practices.
  • Attend department meetings and participate in ongoing training and development.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities as skills and experience develop.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Previous plumbing, construction, mechanical, or skilled trades experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in building a career in the plumbing trade.
  • Willingness to learn drain and sewer installation, repair, and diagnostic techniques.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Reliable, punctual, and willing to work in a fast-paced field environment.
  • Ability to work safely with hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work in residential homes and outdoor job sites in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift and move materials and equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Must be willing to learn, receive coaching, and continuously develop technical skills.

Work Environment:

This is a hands-on field position working primarily at residential job sites. The role may require climbing ladders, navigating uneven surfaces, working in confined spaces, and moving materials up to 50 pounds. Regularly operates hand and power tools and works around noise, dust, and varying outdoor weather conditions. Must be able to see, hear, and communicate effectively with customers and team members. Pay Range

$20 - $22 USD
