Field Test Engineer
Swarm Aero is building the largest UAV swarm in the world and the only Group 5 UAV swarm. This long-range, low-cost UAV is designed to endure near hotspots in Europe and Asia, keeping democracies free by making it impractical to invade & occupy free people.
We're looking for a field test engineer with a solid technical background in software engineering or related fields who can lead the integration and deployment of the C2 and vehicle autonomy systems Swarm Aero is developing.

As a field test engineer, you'll be responsible for:
- Leading software, firmware, and basic electrical integrations of our C2 and autonomy systems with third party platforms
- Working directly with the product development teams to ensure customer field test objectives are met and that product feedback is incorporated back in the core product
- Developing CONOPs (concepts of operation) with customer and business interaction, then creating test plans and executing them
- Traveling to customer test sites (up to 50% travel) to perform onsite integrations and testing
- Testing and troubleshooting complex integrated systems involving multiple third parties, chasing down failures, and ensuring overall mission success
- Learning to pilot both individual drones through obtaining a part 107 license and operating drone swarms during test events
We're looking for someone who has:
- Experience working with embedded/IoT systems
- Generalist embedded systems knowledge (SPI/I2C/serial, basic use of digital logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, basic microcontroller programming)
- Experience with at least one major programming language (Python, C/C++, Golang, Java, etc)
- Working knowledge of networking, including NAT, mDNS, network protocols (UDP/TCP), multicast, and firewall configuration
- Ability to productively engage in customer discussions, understand the customer problem in their domain and drive toward successful customer outcomes
These items set you apart:
- Hands on robotics or aerospace experience
- Experience in both Linux and Windows system administration tasks
- Electronics prototyping experience (soldering, breadboarding, interpreting schematics and datasheets)
Candidates for this position must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
