Junior People Practitioner

This position reports to the :People Business Partner
Your responsibilities will include:
- Partner, coach and support all employees across the full range of HR functions and support including performance management, recruitment and selection, job evaluation, remuneration and benefits, induction, learning and development, employee relations and employee wellness ensuring consistency with relevant legislation and the company HR policy and procedure
- Implementation of the HR Strategy and policies in the business ensuring alignment to strategy
- Undertake specific projects, in consultation with line management, to facilitate HR activities and enhance customer service
- Support Hiring managers with organisational design and all talent acquisition activities
- Provide timeous and relevant HR management information to all relevant stakeholders
- Coordinate payroll submissions and checks accurate and timeous delivery to ensure on time and accurate remuneration and benefits are paid to all employees
- Partner and support all employees with IR related incidents and processes
- Drive Absenteeism and Case management processes with support from the HR Administrator
- Support the onboarding process which includes drafting of contracts, gathering new starter data, ensuring first day readiness, induction etc.
- Conduct onboarding for all new appointees into the division
- Conduct 3-month stay interviews with all new appointees
- With support from the HR Administrator, coordinate all onboarding and resignation process to ensure a seamless transition for all parties
- Ensure all employee systems are kept up to date
- Support all employee relations processes with templates, documentation, scheduling and updating the employee relations database
- Provide monthly reports to the HRBP and Managers and Team Leads as required
- Manage ad hoc projects from time to time as per the HR Strategy
- Provide general administrative support to the HR Team
- Assist staff with day to day queries
- Support and assist with any recruitment initiatives and processes such as open days, career fairs and interviews
Qualification & Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in one of the following fields:
- Bachelor of Technology: HR Management
- BCom HR Management
- BCom Industrial Psychology
- Related HR or Business discipline
- 1-2 years proven HR experience in a generalist or specialist capacity
- Demonstrated experience in core HR functions: recruitment, performance management, employee relations, or learning & development
- Experience working in a multi-stakeholder environment
- Experience in Customer Service environment is adventageous
Comprehensive understanding of South African labour legislation including:
- Labour Relations Act (LRA)
- Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA)
- Employment Equity Act (EEA)
- Skills Development Act (SDA)
- Working knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and best practices
- Understanding of performance management frameworks and employee development principles
Advantageous:
- Knowledge of payroll systems and processes
- Familiarity with HRIS platforms and HR analytics
- Understanding of organisational design principles
Attributes Required:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
