This internship will run from July to December 2026. 

 

About the Role 

As an AI Legal Engineer Intern, you will work at the intersection of law, technology, data, and business transformation. You will support the EMEA Legal & Compliance team in designing, testing, and implementing practical AI and legal technology solutions that improve how legal work is delivered across the business. 

This is a hands-on, build-focused internship. You will help turn legal processes, documents, data, and workflows into practical tools, automations, dashboards, and AI-enabled solutions. 

You do not need to be a lawyer or a law student. What matters most is your ability to work with structured information, understand systems and workflows, and build practical solutions that are reliable, secure, and easy for others to use. 

 

What You’ll Do 

As part of the Legal & Compliance team, you will: 

  • Support the development and implementation of AI-enabled legal workflows 
  • Help identify, map, and improve legal and compliance processes across EMEA 
  • Assist with the design, testing, and rollout of legal automation tools 
  • Support contract review, contract data extraction, and contract lifecycle management initiatives 
  • Contribute to the implementation and optimization of Contract Management Systems and Document Management Systems 
  • Create and maintain legal operations dashboards, trackers, and reporting tools 
  • Support legal spend tracking, matter management, and performance reporting 
  • Assist with AI use case testing, prompt design, and quality assurance of AI outputs 
  • Help develop playbooks, templates, guidance notes, and training materials for legal technology adoption 
  • Support data clean-up, taxonomy design, knowledge management, and document classification projects 
  • Work with the Legal & Compliance team to identify opportunities for automation and process improvement 
  • Assist with legal research, contract summaries, and briefing notes where relevant 
  • Support compliance and governance projects involving policy implementation, third-party risk, and corporate data management 

 

Who You Are 

You are currently pursuing an HBO, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Information Systems, Engineering, Legal Tech, Business Analytics, or a related technical discipline. Candidates from a legal background will also be considered if they can demonstrate strong technical, automation, data, or AI project experience. 

You are: 

  • Interested in applying AI, automation, and data-driven tools to real legal and compliance workflows 
  • Comfortable working with structured data, documents, systems, and process maps 
  • Curious about how legal teams can use AI responsibly, securely, and practically 
  • Able to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical colleagues 
  • Structured, analytical, and detail-oriented 
  • Proactive, curious, and willing to experiment, learn, and improve 
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, international environment 

Previous internship, project, coding, automation, data, or legal tech experience is a plus, but not required. 

 

What You Bring 

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail 
  • A structured and organized approach to solving problems 
  • Ability to break down complex workflows into clear steps, rules, data points, and outputs 
  • Practical experience building or configuring tools, dashboards, automations, scripts, or AI-assisted workflows 
  • Confidence using Microsoft 365, especially Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams, and SharePoint 
  • Familiarity with Power BI, Power Automate, Copilot, ChatGPT, Python, SQL, APIs, CLM/DMS tools, or other legal tech platforms is a strong plus 
  • A testing mindset, including the ability to check AI outputs for accuracy, consistency, and usefulness 
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion 
  • Interest in responsible AI, confidentiality, information security, and governance 
  • Fluency in English; Dutch or other European languages are a plus
