Position Overview

The Human Resources Manager will lead all aspects of HR across the organization, managing a small team and ensuring programs—from performance management and training to compliance and benefits—are executed efficiently and with a focus on a positive Team Member experience. This role requires a strategic thinker who can also roll up their sleeves and partner directly with managers and Team Members at all levels.

  • Competitive Salary: $95k–$110k, based on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the HR Department: Understand and oversee daily operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and a positive Team MATE experience. Mentor and support the HR team while maintaining strong morale and alignment with company goals.
  • Performance Management: Enhance and administer our performance management system including goal setting, annual and interim reviews, ongoing feedback, coaching, and succession planning.
  • Training & Development: Develop and administer a company- wide training and development program that identifies individual needs, catalogues relevant trainings, documents training plans for all Team Members, and tracks training results.
  • Benefits & Insurance: Administer benefits, leave programs, and 401(k) plans. Partner with brokers and third-party administrators to ensure proper coverage, compliance, and cost management.
  • Employee Relations: Support managers with employee relations, mediation, and conflict resolution. Conduct quarterly branch visits and participate in terminations when needed.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local HR related reporting and requirements.
  • Onboarding & Engagement: Collaborate with Recruiting on onboarding, present new hire orientations, and lead employee engagement and recognition initiatives.
  • Safety & Risk Management: Oversee the Safety Committee, audits, and training programs. Review incidents to identify trends and implement preventive measures.
  • Reporting & Analytics: Track and report key HR metrics and KPIs to leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field—or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership or management role
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, benefits administration, and HR best practices
  • Experience developing, improving, and implementing HR processes and programs
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to respond promptly and effectively
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize effectively, and adapt in a fast-paced, dynamic, and people-focused environment
  • Willingness and ability to travel to branch locations across the Mid-Atlantic region
  • Experience in a multi-location or field-based environment is a plus
