Data Quality & Governance Engineer  

About the Role  

TEGNA is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Data Quality & Governance Engineer to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and trustworthiness of data across our consumer data platform. This role plays a critical part in enabling reliable analytics and activation use cases by implementing robust data governance frameworks and quality validation processes.  

You will partner closely with Product, Marketing, and Engineering teams to maintain high data integrity standards and drive confidence in business insights.  

What You Will Do  

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for our product analytics platform (Amplitude), driving adoption and ensuring data integrity. 
  • Partner with Product and Marketing teams to define KPIs and develop dashboards tomonitoruser engagement, feature adoption, and campaign performance.  
  • Design and implement automated data quality testing and validation frameworks within ETL/ELT pipelines (e.g.,dbttests, Great Expectations).  
  • Perform advanced data analysis using SQL andGraphQLto identify root causes of data discrepancies and inconsistencies.  
  • Own and manage the end-to-end data quality assurance framework, including investigation, triage, and resolution of data issues. 
  • Collaborate with source system owners and analysts to define, document, and enforce data standards and governance practices. 

What You Bring  

  • 8+ years of experience in data quality, data governance, or a related data engineering role. 
  • Expert-level SQL skills for data profiling, validation, and analysis. 
  • Strong understanding of ETL/ELT processes and datamodelingconcepts.  
  • Meticulous attention to detail with a strong commitment to data accuracy and integrity. 

Preferred Qualifications  

  • Programming experience in Python for developing custom data quality checks andautomation. 
  • Experience working with cloud data warehouse platforms such as Snowflake. 
  • Familiarity with data privacy regulations and governance best practices.
