Manager/ Associate Director, Financial Advisory

Bristol, United Kingdom

The Role

Teneo’s Financial Advisory team in Bristol is expanding and we are seeking a highly analytical and motivated Assistant Director with a strong core financial skillset.

Teneo’s Financial Advisory team helps organisations and their stakeholders navigate periods of financial uncertainty—bringing clarity to complex decisions and supporting practical routes forward.

You will work on a wide mix of restructuring advisory, contingency planning and insolvency engagements, often with senior stakeholders and time-critical decisions.

As an Associate Director, you will be trusted to lead delivery: setting direction for workstreams, coordinating stakeholders, and ensuring outputs are rigorous, clear and usable. You’ll also develop people—creating a supportive team environment where high standards and inclusion go hand-in-hand.

Key Responsibilities

Client Service

  • Take day-to-day ownership of significant workstreams and smaller engagements from scoping through to delivery-prioritising quality, pace and clarity.
  • Lead analysis and outputs including business plans, short-term cash flows and restructuring options; translating complex situations into practical recommendations and solutions.
  • Support and challenge management teams in developing business plans, cash flow forecasts and turnaround plans using fact based, data driven analysis.
  • Support in financial restructuring and lender side assignments (e.g. business plan reviews, stakeholder options analysis).
  • Prepare high quality client deliverables including contingency plans, options reports and board packs.
  • Work closely with senior colleagues to manage stakeholders across complex and sensitive situations, requiring the necessary soft skills to do so.
  • Build trusted client relationships through clear communication, constructive challenge and well-reasoned recommendations.

People and Leadership

  • Support management of junior colleagues, providing on-the job coaching, mentoring and support development through feedback and stretch opportunities.
  • Contribute to practice-wide training initiatives.
  • Foster an inclusive, supportive team culture where contributions are recognised.

Business Development

  • Proactively contribute to the pursuit of leads, development of proposals, pitch materials, and marketing initiatives bringing enthusiasm and energy to relevant sectors where you have experience or a passion.
  • Build your external network and play an active role in key client accounts and internal business development programmes. The expectation is that you will already be building a strong network of external relationships that you will be able to build out further at Teneo and will contribute to generating opportunities for the firm.
  • Help identify opportunities for expanding further Teneo services across engagements

Quality & Risk

  • Apply sound judgement and quality control to ensure deliverables are accurate, well-evidenced and aligned to scope and engagement needs.
  • Support engagement economics through effective project management and clear oversight of priorities, timelines and issues.

Key Skills & Experience

Basic Qualifications

  • Strong financial skillset in a professional services capacity, likely from financial advisory, restructuring, transaction services, banking or corporate finance role.
  • Proven ability to lead teams to deliver high-quality written outputs and client materials.
  • Proven experience in financial analysis and/or financial modelling, cash and working capital analysis and report writing.
  • Comfortable working with senior stakeholders and operating in fast‑paced, ambiguous environments.
  • Excellent project management skills with an ability to manage multiple workstreams concurrently.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability and willingness to work hands-o‑on with clients, including time spent on site as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in restructuring advisory role.
  • Evidence of business development capability including demonstrable professional and corporate network and/or key account management.
  • Knowledge of insolvency legislation/practice (helpful, not required).

As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
