Scientist I, gRNA Analytical Development

Your experience includes…

  • BS in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, or relevant discipline with 8+ years of relevant experience, or M.S. with 6+ years relevant industry experience, or PhD with 1+ years industry experience.
  • The application of a diverse set of analytical assays, with strong background in LC-MS (required) and HPLC preferable.
  • RNA or Oligonucleotide analytical chemistry and biophysical techniques (required), preferably in biopharmaceutically relevant systems.
  • Analyzing and interpreting written material, in various forms including tables and spreadsheets, as well as quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Writing clear and concise reports and memos.
  • A high level of personal and spatial organization.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A learning and betterment mindset.

You are interested in…  

  • Advancing existing and establishing new methods using mass spectrometry and HPLC to characterize RNA molecules (oligonucleotides).
  • Representing the Analytical Development team in cross-functional meetings, presenting results and providing scientific input as needed.
  • Participating in in-depth investigations, including orthogonal method evaluation, understanding oligonucleotide stability, and characterizing impurities in a CMC setting.
  • Exploring new technology and software to strengthen and streamline oligonucleotide characterization workflows.
  • Maintaining external awareness of advances in the field through keeping updated on relevant publications, attending conferences and workshops.
  • Effectively collaborating within the Analytical team and with other functional teams.
  • Using scientific and technical expertise for instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Training and mentoring junior scientists as needed.
  • Performing assays, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting results in appropriate format (ELN, analytical reports, and presentations).
  • Performing additional duties and responsibilities as required.

You have an interest in developing and implementing RNA molecule characterization assays. You are able to work well independently or as part of a team, have impeccable attention to detail, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.

Laura Castellanos Garcia - Scientist II, Analytical Development

Originally from Colombia, Laura obtained her PhD from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, working in the development of Mass Spectrometry Imaging methods. Laura started working at Tessera in 2021, where she focuses on developing mass spectrometry and chromatography methods for oligonucleotide analysis. She lives in Somerville with her husband, with who she shares a passion for science outreach as members of Science Clubs Colombia. Laura enjoys coding, reading, baking, and Latin dancing.

Narissa Furtado-Cordeiro - Manager, Talent Acquisition 

Narissa joined the Biotechnology industry shortly after graduating with her BS in Marketing from Franklin Pierce University. She is currently pursuing a MS in Legal Studies from Northeastern University School of Law while working full time as a Manager in Talent Acquisition at Tessera. She is passionate about helping individuals find a fulfilling opportunity while considering their interests, aspirations and technical skills. Narissa lives in Northern Vermont and enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, three-year-old daughter and German Shepherd.
