Position Overview
The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is a mission-critical executive responsible for advancing digital innovation, data excellence, and operational scalability across the organization. Reporting to the CEO and serving on the Executive Leadership Team, the CIO provides strategic direction and measurable leadership across information technology, cybersecurity, enterprise systems, and data governance. This role ensures that technology, digital platforms, and data ecosystems accelerate the mission of delivering exceptional behavioral healthcare. The ideal candidate combines deep healthcare IT experience with a proven record of enterprise transformation and the ability to align complex technical strategies with measurable business and clinical outcomes.

Technology Strategy & Digital Transformation
- Develop and execute a multi-year technology roadmap that supports growth, scalability, and clinical excellence.
- Advise the CEO and Executive Team on digital transformation, data strategy, and emerging technologies.
- Translate organizational goals into actionable, measurable technology initiatives driving efficiency and patient experience.
- Deliver ROI from technology investments aligned with financial and clinical priorities.
- Lead enterprise-wide change management to enhance adoption and digital fluency.
Enterprise Systems, Infrastructure & Cybersecurity
- Oversee design, implementation, and performance of all enterprise technology platforms, including EHRs, infrastructure, and cloud systems.
- Direct cybersecurity programs compliant with HIPAA, HITECH, and 42 CFR Part 2, ensuring data protection.
- Lead business continuity, disaster recovery, and risk management for reliable operations.
- Govern service delivery through KPIs, vendor management, and cost-effective performance.
- Ensure secure, seamless technology across all sites and virtual platforms.
Data Governance & Analytics
- Champion enterprise data strategy and governance to ensure integrity, quality, and compliance.
- Advance analytics capabilities for real-time insights, evidence-based decisions, and improved outcomes.
- Strengthen interoperability among EHRs, payers, and partners.
- Establish dashboards and reporting tools for organizational transparency and accountability.
Leadership & Culture
- Build and mentor a high-performing IT team focused on accountability, innovation, and service excellence.
- Foster collaboration between clinical, operational, and administrative teams to ensure technology enhances their work.
- Attract and retain top talent through empowerment and clear expectations.
- Model values-based leadership and partner with executives to shape long-term strategy.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Oversee IT governance, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance.
- Partner with Compliance, Legal, and HR on enterprise risk and data protection.
- Maintain audit readiness and compliance with HIPAA and behavioral health regulations.
- Serve as executive sponsor for incident response and security education.
Stakeholder Communication
- Provide clear, data-driven reporting to the CEO, CFO, and Board on performance, cybersecurity, and outcomes.
- Offer insights that inform enterprise decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Represent the organization in strategic partnerships and industry forums.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field required; Master’s in IS, Healthcare Administration, or MBA preferred.
- 15+ years in IT leadership, including 10 in healthcare or behavioral health.
- Proven success leading digital transformation in multi-site organizations.
- Expertise in EHRs, cybersecurity, data governance, interoperability (FHIR, HL7), and cloud systems.
- Experience managing multimillion-dollar budgets and vendors.
- Strong communicator, strategic thinker, and collaborative leader committed to advancing behavioral health through technology.
Work Environment
- Remote role that is computer based; travel up to 25% as needed.
