Position Summary:

Research Analysts are key team members who support research projects, content development, and other initiatives related to supporting our health system and industry member executives. THMA conducts much of its research initiatives in partnership with member health systems and healthcare companies. Working closely with the Member Insights team, Research Analysts are directly involved with the daily operations of all THMA research initiatives. 

 

This position will support our Industry Insights research team by supporting industry-facing deliverables that translate market activity and member insights into high-quality content and strategic analysis. This role requires strong editorial judgment, organizational excellence, and the ability to synthesize qualitative and quantitative information into compelling insights. Examples of past research projects include evaluations of health systems responses to industry trends (e.g., transitioning from volume to value, opioid epidemic), identifying best practices in delivering high-value care (e.g., telehealth), and tracking health system financial and demographic metrics over time (e.g., percent of revenue tied to Medicare Advantage).

 

Analysts are primarily responsible for conducting quantitative and qualitative analyses and developing deliverables (e.g., written reports, presentations, online content) for the membership broadly and individual clients. Analysts support research interviews, data analysis, and the creation of deliverables and presentation materials. Academy insights are frequently presented and discussed at Academy meetings and shared through our digital channels.

 

Primary Job Duties:

  • Assist the Director in developing research agendas and project scope
  • Document findings from primary and secondary research
  • Present analysis of findings from qualitative data collected from interviews, site visits, literature reviews etc. with independence
  • Conduct interviews and survey executives from health systems and industry organizations
  • Produce compelling graphical and written analyses of findings for interim and final deliverables
  • Create qualitative surveys using online survey tools for data collection
  • Enter, check, and harmonize data for research studies
  • Collect, input and analyze market trends, statistics, surveys health policy data
  • Generate graphs and figures for analytic reports and research briefs
  • Synthesize insights from research findings
  • Provide input to senior leadership on opportunities for improving value delivery to member organizations

 

 

Key Deliverables:

 

Monthly Newsletters (Academy 360 & Executive Edge)

  • Curate credible, relevant sources and develop written content that reflects The Academy’s distinct editorial voice and standards.
  • Coordinate Member Spotlight submissions and ensure timely preparation of each issue for publication.
  • Format and post content to The Academy’s website and coordinate with the research operations team to support email distribution.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to include upcoming events, validate policy-related articles, and ensure alignment across teams.
  • Manage timelines and content flow to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery in a fast-paced production cycle.

 

Recurring Executive Priorities Surveys

  • Draft survey instruments that capture the evolving priorities of senior health system leaders, incorporating question logic and sequencing to ensure clarity and data quality
  • Test surveys prior to launch to validate question comprehension, flow, and response capture; revise as needed to improve accuracy and executive engagement
  • Compile and clean large data sets in Excel, conduct analyses, and identify key takeaways that highlight trends across strategic areas
  • Translate data into engaging research outputs, such as reports, blog posts, and member-facing presentations, that clearly communicate findings, implications, and market relevance
  • Partner with the Director and Associate Directors to ensure analyses are consistent with THMA’s editorial standards and industry voice.

 

Quarterly Market Pulse Webinars

  • Conduct environmental scanning across datasets, media coverage, and member discussions to identify key trends.
  • Support the development of presentation materials and assist in framing data-driven narratives that connect findings to broader market implications.
  • Collaborate with senior team members to ensure webinars reflect The Academy’s analytic rigor and strategic voice.

 

Annual CXO Persona Refresh

  • Synthesize insights from program discussions, survey data, and market research to inform annual updates to executive personas.
  • Support survey design, data analysis, and persona development to ensure profiles accurately reflect evolving leadership priorities.
  • Partner with leadership to ensure outputs are actionable, relevant, and aligned with The Academy’s member engagement strategy.

 

Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate combines strong analytical and writing skills with attention to detail and an ability to manage multiple recurring deliverables. Success in this role requires intellectual curiosity, editorial precision, and the ability to operate effectively in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 2+ years of experience in research, consulting, or healthcare policy/analytics
  • Strong writing skills and experience writing reports
  • Strong analytic skills, including the ability to think critically, creatively, and problem solve
  • Interest in healthcare industry dynamics
  • Experience conducting qualitative primary and secondary research
  • Strong quantitative skills, including Excel proficiency
  • Ability to synthesize and visualize data effectively in PowerPoint
  • Ability to complete tasks on tight deadlines without compromising quality
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Salary Range

$70,000 - $72,000 USD
