Design Manager - Own Brand

We are currently looking for a Design Manager to join our Own Brand Team. Reporting into our GM of Own Brands this role is essential in driving the conception and development of all product in your brand by always driving innovation & creativity with a customer centric focus. This role is an excellent opportunity for a creative but commercially minded Fashion Design Manager who can translate trends into unique, contemporary designs.

Creative Direction & Strategy

• Lead the creative vision and design strategy for THE ICONIC’s Own Brands.
• Stay up to date with industry trends and innovations.
• Collaborate with department managers, buyers, and planners to align on seasonal trends, budgets, and plans.

Process Ownership & Improvement

• Set and maintain design standards and best practices.
• Champion innovation and new approaches in design.
• Manage resource allocation and team productivity.

Product Design & Development

• Oversee design concepts from ideation to final delivery across print, digital, and physical products.
• Ensure all designs are on-brand, innovative, and customer-focused.
• Review and approve design work, providing feedback to maintain quality.

Vendor Relationship Management

• Build and maintain strategic vendor relationships.
• Work with vendors to solve design challenges and improve lead times.

Cross-functional Collaboration

• Work closely with internal teams and external partners to deliver compelling design solutions.
• Facilitate workshops and design reviews to foster collaboration.

Marketing & Creative Alignment

• Lead Go To Market initiatives and support marketing campaigns.
• Align product assortment with brand messaging and promotional strategies.

Budgeting & Resource Management

• Manage budgets and resources efficiently.
• Recommend team growth and skill development as needed.

Team Leadership & Development

• Provide strategic leadership and direction to the design team.
• Drive professional development and team engagement.

Key Accountabilities

• Monitor sales against budgets and drive actions to meet targets.
• Approve design selections and ensure alignment with brand standards and KPIs.

What it takes

• Minimum 3 + years experience at a Senior Designer or Design Manager level
• Experience in managing high profile brands and categories with a proven track record in exceeding financial KPIs including driving Sales $ NMV growth with a focus on profitability
• Able to showcase that under their guidance individuals and teams have achieved success, career growth and improvements in ways of working
• Thorough understanding of the Australian/International Retail Market
• Great influencer, strong negotiator and outstanding communicator in both verbal and written communication - can get the best out of people and suppliers
• Strong analytical skills and a depth of experience in consumer insights and research
• Ability to think and concept strategically with a thorough understanding of wider business functions
