Strategic Planning Resident

Richmond, VA

We’re looking for bold, creative folks to help us build the next big thing, experience, Ad for some of the world’s most iconic brands.

Think: viral moments that break the internet, ideas so wild they make AI question its existence, and cultural moments that leave people asking, “HOW???” 🤯.

Slide in if this sounds like you!

Have some pervious exposure to advertising - yes, just being a human who sees 10,000 ads a day counts! WINK
You love to MAKE THINGS: concepts, stories, videos, photoshopable things, and create content that makes people laugh, cry, or question reality. Organizing squirrels who make things also counts!!!
Want to collab with a team of doers, dreamers, and disruptors who actually get it and get you

Then this is your summer to create culture, not just consume it (while getting paid!!!) Put your name on work that matters. No coffee runs. No BS. No corporate cringe. Just creative mayhem.

The Impact
As a Marty Resident in the Strategy department, you will be figuring out what a planner actually does and training on the job. You are gaining this core understanding while finding your own voice and learning how to navigate agency life. There is a lot to learn and ascending that curve will feel overwhelming at times.
But take heart. Under the guidance and mentorship of your Resident Lead, you will form the foundation you will continuously build on and skills you will hone throughout your career.
As a Marty Resident, a lot of your time will be spent exploring. Asked to find the silver bullet stat… the perfect headline… or the audience indexing to support strategic hunches and anchor creative recommendations. You will familiarize yourself with the entire toolbox we use to visualize our audiences, codify culture and inspire our creative.
As you excel, you’ll become increasingly valuable to the general rhythm of strategy across your account. You will use your growing dexterity to lighten the burden on your teammates. Anticipate needs and get caught trying to solve the problem. This position will report directly to the Strategy Resident Lead.

Think you have what it takes? We’d love to see your application if you…
  • Can speak to or show some tangible experience in how this residency program relates specifically to your long-term career goals in the advertising industry, and specifically strategic planning
  • Push yourself beyond the obvious and ask “why” and “what if?”
  • Are a great communicator (both written and conversationally), collaborator and negotiator — we work with a representative group of people (race, ethnicity, nationality, etc.) and we value those who are excited at the chance to communicate cross-culturally and across departments
  • Enjoy the work of analyzing cultural trends and identifying culture-impacting opportunities relevant to client business — this is digging into consumer behavior to uncover subcultures, translating raw data into stories, etc.
  • Can work independently, shaping and delivering on your own projects and tracking/proving their success
  • Are a good mix of curious, driven, responsible, accountable, and tech-savvy

Ready? 🚀✨

We believe in visibility. This is the radical pursuit of our people and keeping them at the center, investing in and building safe, strong community; pouring into holistic wellbeing; and fostering an environment of maximum contribution, so that they can focus only on doing the best work of their lives.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
