Associate Director, Product & Label Management - Mass Appeal

Mass Appeal Records is the independent music division of Mass Appeal Media Group founded in 1996 and headquartered in New York. Our mission is to tell diverse and authentic stories from the perspective of those who shape and shift our culture.

Reporting to the CEO, the Associate Director, Product & Label Management will be based in London, focusing on the development of Mass Appeal artists and successfully managing all aspects of product for new releases. The ideal candidate will have strong connections within the industry, a deep understanding of music distribution and marketing, and the ability to drive results in a fast-paced environment. 

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as main point of contact with artist management and distribution teams including client onboarding and release strategy
  • Manage digital release set-up and operations, ensuring digital content is delivered in a timely manner and to required specifications using Orchard technology systems while keeping in mind overall strategy and goals for Mass Appeal
  • Oversee global physical strategy including product suggestions, production, vetting vendors, logistics and inventory management of physical products across distribution, retail, touring and direct-to-consumer
  • Work alongside the label’s marketing team to ensure our distribution’s global sales and marketing organization has all assets to properly solicit and market priority releases, creating assets when necessary
  • Manage priority release campaigns from inception through to analysis, working with artist teams and distribution departments such as sales, marketing, channel management, operations, and data analytics as necessary
  • Liaise with all internal distribution departments (including finance, rights management, legal) to ensure our artists’ business needs are met

Who You Are

  • 5+ years of relevant and applicable experience in the music industry
  • Strong understanding of metadata, music distribution, artist development, marketing, and promotion strategies
  • Strong attention to detail, extremely organized, and process-oriented
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite; understanding of audio software preferred
  • Excellent communication
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-driven environment
  • Deep knowledge of the music industry and its current trends and challenges
